Despite being hard to get to at first - especially at night - this hotel (chosen completely by accident based on its proximity to what is considered the best coffee place in all of Bangkok), turned out to be an excellent place. It is a very good place for access to "in-town" activities and sights in Bangkok, as it is at the far Eastern end of the Airport Rail Link's origin station at Phaya Thai. At the Western end of the station is the interchange to the Skytrain system that can take a traveler to just about anywhere of consequence in Bangkok with connections to the Underground (MRT) at Asoke.
The hotel features a small sitting lounge and a very cute lobby café serving primarily Thai food with some Western breakfast sets. There is also an on-site spa specializing in about 10 different types of massage. There is also both an outdoor bar and bench area for smokers. Coffee is available in the lobby and there are also 2 drink refrigerator units that have soft drinks, beer and something not seen in Thailand, organic fresh squeezed orange juice. 20 baht on aggregate.
The hallmark of the place is the wonderful front desk staff. 2 locals and a Filipina who went out of the way to make the stay as nice as possible at a very reasonable price point for the location. Housekeeping was very solicitous but not really needed.
The rooms themselves resembled those in an American college dorm. Done all in white, they featured 2 swivel bucket chairs, a circular table, 2 very nice beds, a center night stand and a vast amount of TV channels that was the largest amount ever seen at a hotel anywhere. The ensuite CR, done in grey tile had all of the necessaries for the stay. Bottle water with 3 in 1 coffee and tea, along with a kettle, are also offered.
For gym rats, the hotel is in the process of reconstruction of its gym to a sister building across from the lobby. As a substitute, there is a small swimming pool located on the roof. The gym should be in operation in 2023.
For railway enthusiasts, this is a train spotters heaven as numerous trains on the Eastern Line of the Thai railway system pass directly past the hotel and can be seen and heard often. The ambient noise from the trains and the Rail Link might be a deterrent to some travelers. Phaya Thai Road is also very heavily trafficked.
For access to the hotel, exit the ARL station at Phaya Thai interchange. Stay left as you go downstairs. Cross over the railroad tracks at the Phaya Thai Road crossing. Take the first left after crossing the tracks. There appears to be Korean writing printed on the street in the middle of what appears to be a Korean oriented bar. Continue to walk straight to the hotel. Turn right at the gate which is on the right. During the day, there is a TukTuk to and from the stations. It is about 10-15 minutes walk from the stations. Plenty of food establishments, especially on the concourse at the station interchange nearby.
A really good place for the reasonable price point - especially if taking a plane from either of the 2 Bangkok airports that are easily reached by mass transit.
2 words to the wise; Although there appears at the end of the ARL station to be gaps in the fence, crossing the railroad tracks other than at the crossing is very ill advised especially at night. In addition to the trains, the area has encampments by the tracks and it has the potential to be unsavoury. This is basically a mixed neighbourhood of office buildings, hotels, condo and standard apartments and the prior stated encampments.

Read moreGood hotel for the money. Located in the back of the area, but taxi drivers can find. There is knock knock to Family mart. Near the large clothing market and the famous Baiyoke sky tower. We traveled by taxi, called through Grab. There were no problems. Safely. There is a construction site near the hotel, but this does not interfere.
As for customer service. The owners of the hotel try to keep a high standard. At the reception they met with a smile, brought things to the room. Near the reception there is a refrigerator where you can get drinks and beer. There is a small bar where you can sit. There is a place to eat and massage right next to the hotel. The rooms are clean, towels and shower facilities are. The bedding is clean. Air conditioning is working properly. There is a TV too, but only Thai channels. Small problems with the internet. It's hard to get on the internet, but the speed itself is good. All the staff are friendly and everything tells. I think a very good option for the money.
I put 4 stars, because the hotel is "boring", not new, because there are problems with access to the Internet, because there is a construction site nearby.
