Ive been traveling to Bangkok for over 20 yrs and at least once a year. I've stayed at many hotels in Bangkok. And I Just spent a week at this hotel. Unfortunately nothing much about this hotel lives up to the title of being "grand". Let's begin with the pro (yes, a singular pro): The staff are very friendly and helpful. However it's obvious they lack experience and often need to be reminded to do things such as restock the rooms teabags, amenities , towels. Or follow up on requests. My bed sheets werent even changed the entire week Now for the cons: The hotel is located right behind the Siam Paragon mall, and the provide a shuttle to and from the mall. However there is literally only 1 shuttle, and it's a golf cart. So it can only take 4-5 passengers each time, then you have to wait for the shuttle to drop off the ppl and return for you. Which at times takes some time because there is traffic at the mall and the shuttle gets stuck in traffic. Thy couldn't even set up a second shuttle. The other way to the streets to the platinum outlet mall is a walk way through some residential houses and a parking lot. The road is terrible to walk through and doesn't feel safe at night. The breakfast buffet has alot of options but all are terrible. And this is no exaggeration. Their egg station, doesn't even cook the eggs upon order. Instead the eggs are precooked and left on plates for you to pick. So if you enjoy cold or lukewarm fried or scrambled eggs then I guess it can be your thing. And even if you ask for fresh eggs they insist you take Their cold plated eggs. They often forget to refill things. This includes basic things like sliced bread . And this was not during a busy week. Every day I had to go tell the staff something ran out and needed refilling. Their bread and pastry are stale and dense. I could play hockey with their donuts and muffins. The cold cut and cheese station , is often swarming with flies and insects buzzing about. Very unappetising . The rooms..Omg..Such a large rooms but with so many design flaws and issues. There are no drawers or cabinet for your personal items. Just the one wardrobe. Which is just average sized. The mini fridge lives up to the name "mini". Besides a few drinks don't expect space for anything else to fit in. My fruits and Thai desserts had to be put outside and were slowly cooked by the fridges exhaust heat which is funneled to the table top of the coffee machine. Their beds all have a weird indent in the middle. The light switch is like a puzzle. The master switch turns off every single thing. So when you go to bed and switch off the master switch expect the AC , night lights, toilet lights literally everything to go off. And if you use the main switches there is no rhyme or reason to it. Switch A turns off only some lights. Turning off switch B it turns off another set of lights but will turn back on some of the lights of set A. Switch C will do the same for the lights for set B and D. Etc etc. Your best choice will be to turn off everything manually individually . Not sure why those main and master switches were installed. The toilet is strangely designed. A huge bathtub in the middle of the bathroom but with no hangers or space to hang clothes nearby. So expect to get up wet and naked and to walk to get your towel and clothes. The shower is a joke. The shower head is too heavy and cant support itself. So the water only reaches 1/3 of the shower stall. You need to almost cling to the wall to let the water reach you. For the price they charge there are many many other options within the city. Maybe even better options. This is a hotel you would only stay once but wouldn't think of returning to on...
Read moreDear fellow travelers,
At the end of 2023, we embarked on an amazing trip across Asia, starting in Thailand, then to Malaysia, and Bali, before finishing in Bangkok. Despite my husband catching a fever in Bali, this hotel made our stay unforgettable.
Room: We booked the Club Room with a king-sized bed, which came with access to the executive lounge. This perk made our stay truly memorable.
The bed was spacious and the mattress was comfortable with great support. The duvet was soft and luxurious, making it feel like pure comfort.
The bathroom was visible from the bed and looked quite luxurious. The shower was equipped with fantastic fixtures that gave us such a great experience, we ended up buying the same showerhead for our home!
The room was also stocked with a variety of tasty snacks, which was a nice touch! We especially enjoyed the authentic Thai treats like chips and nuts.
The only downside to the room was the view. We had a pricier corner room but mostly looked out at another part of the hotel. This was a bit of a letdown, especially since we were in such a lively area and expected more from the view.
Price: This hotel was more expensive than the average in Bangkok, falling into a higher price range. However, the extra cost was worth it for the amenities and experience.
Food: Since my husband was still recovering from being ill, we spent a lot of time in the hotel. While he couldn’t eat much, I made the most of the executive lounge access.
A few floors above our room, the lounge offered stunning views. The staff welcomed us warmly and helped us find a nice spot in the spacious area.
We always chose a seat by the window to make up for the lack of a view in our room!
The food was, in a word, amazing. Out of all the hotels with executive lounge access that we’ve been to, the food and service here were top-notch.
Every day, the offerings changed, with a chef preparing a new specialty on the spot. From delicious sushi to fresh local delicacies, there was always something great to try. The fresh coconuts and made-to-order juices were absolutely addictive.
Breakfast was excellent too. We had the option of eating in the executive lounge or the main dining area, but the privacy, peace, and outstanding service in the lounge meant we never even considered going to the general breakfast room.
Style/Ambiance: This ultra-chic hotel had a polished and stylish atmosphere, with well-dressed guests everywhere. Everything looked new and shiny. The elevators in this Chatrium hotel are something you just have to experience!
During our stay, my husband celebrated his birthday. The lounge staff came over to sing to him and even gave him a beautiful handwritten card. We were also gifted personalized bracelets with our names on them. It was an unforgettable experience, and every staff member (especially in the lounge) deserves major praise for making us feel so special.
There was also a handy shuttle service to a nearby mall, which was a quick ride. It would be nice if they had more shuttle routes to drop off guests at other spots in the lively surrounding area.
Location: A little tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, but still in a fantastic spot with malls, nightlife, and Thai culture all within walking distance.
Recommendation:...

As someone with experiences in fine dining and luxury gastronomy, I had high hopes for Savio—especially after the Chatrium telesales agent praised it as one of Bangkok’s best, boasting lobster, foie gras, and premium selections. No one mentioned my prepaid voucher (via Chatrium Choice Platinum) would limit my buffet options. At no point—booking or check-in—was this clarified. That lack of transparency alone sets a troubling tone.
The cold seafood line was disappointing: no lobster, no foie gras, no crayfish. King crab claws were flavorless, prawns overcooked, and oysters thin, with one emitting a questionable odor. Clams and mussels felt more fitting for a low-cost buffet than a 5-star hotel.
Japanese and teppanyaki stations were barebones. Just 4 types of sashimi, a few simple rolls, and only salmon + sad-looking beef at the teppanyaki counter. No uni, no ikura, no signs of finesse.
The so-called “Special” menu had a good tenderloin steak and lamb, but servings were laughably small—1cm thin slices only. Turbot was dry and fishy. Scallops, again, overcooked.
The Indian station was the rare highlight: rich curries and flavorful biryani. The pasta sauces were okay (pesto was best), but Carbonara leaned too salty.
I must mention the appalling first dish I tried: a seabass in shrimp paste that reeked of spoilage. I alerted the staff. They apologized, said they’d remove it and replace it. They didn’t.
Desserts and ice cream? Basic. Just a few cakes and standard Häagen-Dazs flavors. For a 2,490++ THB buffet, why no macadamia, pistachio, or caramel flavors? Drinks aren’t included—a cup of TWG tea (one teabag) costs 90++ THB. Not a pot. A cup.
Service was polite, but passively so. No one offered guidance on buffet tiers or menu differences. The lack of information felt intentional. The cold duck at the Chinese station sat unheated. Dim sum? No dumplings—just random steamed seafood.
For a 5-star property, this buffet was a misfire. At this price, other hotels offer far better food, variety, and honesty. I walked out full but not satisfied. There was no sense of indulgence, discovery, or delight—just unmet expectations and bland execution.
I won’t be returning, and I can’t recommend Savio to anyone looking for a premium buffet. It's a disappointment that reflects poorly on...
