Food was a letdown from my previous experience with Nara.
The SIGNATURE fried sea bass with garlic and peppercorns was not crispy.
The ONLY thing that's nice is the decor/infrastructure.
Service was DEPLORABLE.
First, we were ignored when we signalled to enter the restaurant even though there was more than enough staff present.
When staff could ignore us no longer, we were ushered to a table, then given a menu not catered to our needs through an ASSUMPTION that we read and understand Chinese (even though we had spoken with staff to get us a table for two in English).
When the fresh coconut came, no spoon was given.
When we asked for fish sauce with bird's chilli/chilli padi, no saucers were given. Were we expected to pour the sauce on our plates with food? We had to ask different staff several times and thought there was no such saucers (and resignedly asked for small plates) at Nara Thai till one staff came with the saucers.
Staff were observed to be giving cursory smiles to customers with smiles instantaneously gone the second staff turned. In some cases, no smile was given at all.
I had actually sympathised with a staff who kept her smile on even when dealing with a rude mainlander.
That sympathy/empathy slowly faded as I saw how superficial staff were.
What took the cake was when we asked for the bill. My companion had called for the bill but the staff placed it at my side of the table and walked off. What?????? Why? Does she not think my companion was capable of paying?
My companion paid in cash and I went to speak to another staff to check on some thing. The cashier then approached me to ask for my signature. I directed her to my companion and explained that my companion was the one who paid. Staff asked me once again to sign. I explained once again that it's my companion who had paid so it's only right that the signature comes from the paying party. Staff asked if I could do her a favour by signing. Gosh! She couldnt walk three steps to my companion to get the signature? I am still appalled!!! The staff with whom I was speaking must have noticed my expression cos thereafter her smile disappeared too.
Wow.
This is Nara @ Siam Paragon. Service and genuine Thai hospitality can be found more in any other place!
Oh by the way, pressing the service button does not seem to work either. Staff walk by you till one decides to lessen your misery of getting attention for which we pay...

Touches of gold, silver, black, and purple create a sense of luxury, while fine dining ware gleams bright on the tables. . Read moreAs of April 2025 I went there to have a seasonal menu called Khao Chae, it is a Thai traditional dish that influenced from Mon's dish. It is rice in jasmine water with ice and side dishes. Perfect for summer heat in Thailand. I am also love this dish but I don't think it is worth the price to pay. Yes! It tastes good but not that better from what you can found everywhere else. But it is worth the experience. You have to order this menu in advance.
The food is great, it is very tasty and the portions are huge! I have ordered an appetizer set and it is huge, the taste is good combined with texture and it is almost perfect, the shrimp is cooked to perfection. The main dish, I got Khao Soi, it might be a bit too sweet but the spices are there and it is very good. My wife got a Pad Thai and she said it is good too, so good that she won't share it with me. For the drink, I got lemon grass which got the syrup separately so if you don't want too much of sugar it is one of very few options you have. But it is too lemon grass for me. My wife got a Thai tea with brown sugar jelly, it is very nice but it is also very sweet. The staff are very good, very helpful and friendly. Enjoy my...
