We came back to this hotel for a second visit because our first stay was genuinely pleasant. Unfortunately, we realized too late that we were simply lucky the first time. This stay was a complete disaster.
We booked 3 rooms, and 2 of them had issues. Rooms smelled damp and musty from the moment we entered—likely from poor ventilation. The air conditioner was unbearably loud at night, and to make things worse, there was construction noise early in the morning. Basic comfort was already compromised.
Things went from bad to worse when we checked out. We were accused of stealing two teaspoons and were asked to pay 400 baht. We told the manager we never even touched the tea set, let alone took anything. Her response was robotic and repetitive: “We conducted an internal room check and everything was accounted for before your stay.” It was like arguing with an AI — no empathy, no flexibility, just a rehearsed script. When we pointed out that this could’ve easily been a housekeeping error, she deflected and used our return visit against us: “If this is your second stay, then you should know about the teaspoons.” Completely absurd logic.
We later found multiple reviews online mentioning the exact same issue with missing teaspoons, confirming this wasn’t an isolated incident. It’s a scam targeting foreign guests. If we hadn’t checked the reviews afterward, we might’ve believed it was just a one-off mistake. But no—this seems to be a trap, and we walked right into it.
Worse still, my friend, a young woman staying alone, had a room key card go missing after she left it in the power slot. When she returned, the card was gone. She reported it immediately, just to make sure they wouldn’t blame her (especially after the teaspoon incident), but guess what? The hotel accused her of losing it and demanded payment. We requested CCTV footage, and after hours of delay, they gave us a blurry 20-second clip with no date or time. They then claimed the hallway camera doesn’t reach that part of the floor. Really? What kind of hotel has security cameras that don’t cover guest room corridors?
We raised serious concerns about guest safety, but got no real response or solution. All they seemed interested in was finding more ways to deduct from our deposit.
And finally — the manager. A middle-aged woman who was not only completely unhelpful but rude and dismissive. She claimed she had no authority to waive charges and that the only person above her was “the owner.” She even made sarcastic remarks in Thai to the receptionist, assuming we wouldn’t understand when we came back to collect our luggage. Absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful.
This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in all my years traveling to Thailand. What should’ve been a relaxing holiday turned into an exhausting, frustrating mess. There are plenty of better hotels in the area—do yourself a favor and stay...
Read morePeople must first take note. Happy 3 is, in my opinion, a 3 - 4 star mid-range budget hotel and should be seen as such. One should adjust their expectations accordingly so as to avoid any disappointment.||I had already stayed at the hotel once before, so I was quite keen to enjoy my experience. There was a feeling of nostalgia as my family and I slowly walked our way into the small alley from the very near National Stadium BTS Station.||Upon entering the hotel, can see that nothing much has changed on the inside, still looked as welcoming as always. Welcome drinks stand in a corner of the lobby as you're courteously greeted by the security guard and receptionist with smiles.||Upon opening our door, we were greeted by a large spacious room with a small kitchenette and clothes cabinet on the right, toilet and shower on the left and wooden flooring for the room. (I can't stand carpets.) The shower area and toilet share a same sliding door. So that may be a very slight inconvenience if you're sharing a room with friends and there's already one having a shower and another suddenly has a stomachache. Beds are large and very comfortable and air-conditioning is nice and cool and thankfully, temperature adjustable. While there is no door separating the toilet / shower from the room corridor there is a large pullable 'curtain' that can b used in place of a door that can curtain off the entire section. There are many wall outlets available for charging use for handphones and the like beside the beds and also on the desk area. One may also borrow adapters from the reception if needed. The hotel also has a small pool should guests wish to swim.||In terms of convenience, one of the best reasons for staying is the location. |National Stadium BTS Station is very near the hotel and Siam BTS Station is only 1 stop away. Getting to Yaowarat (Chinatown) is also a breeze as the MRT line you're required to change at is only 3 stops away at Sala Daeng BTS Station. Then you use the covered walkways to get to Silom MRT Station and take another 3 MRT Stations to Wat Mangkorn MRT Station (To get to Chinatown). Getting to the hotel from the airport is just as easy. Take the Airport Rail Link from the airport all the way to Phaya Thai Station, switch Iines and take 2 stops to Siam and then 1 stop to National Stadium BTS Station.||There is VERY large Lotus supermarket less than 15mins away from the hotel and a small local wet market directly beside it. There is a McDonalds and at least 2 7-11s nearby the hotel...
Read moreThe main thing I'll say about this hotel is don't expect the usual warm welcome or hospitality you get from most hotels in Asia. We called in on the way home from Vietnam, read the reviews so we went in slightly aware. When you arrive it's 2 people at a desk no warm welcome, they'll process your payment then ask for a 1000 deposit for damages or incidentals with a list of rules etc, they wont even leave their chair. During our stay we witnessed several people checking out getting told there was damage in the room and missing spoons etc, there was a gust taking someone not checked into the hotel to his room, they stopped him and were trying to get them to take another room. I'd say this must be normal as when the guest started questioning them, the doorman quickly stood ready to intervine. I would strongly reccomend you take a detailed video of your room when you arrive and when you leave. The pool area was nice but you will be smashed by mosquito bites. If you're unfortunate enough to have breakfast included allow 2 hours. Ironically you have to request what you want with a time the prior day, on the day you'll arrive in the restaurant at your designated time, then you have to inform reception you're there, as no one will come to serve you. They will then commence cooking your meal, not in the commercial kitchen but the tiny Cafe area in reception. Undoubtedly it'll be wrong, half cooked, mostly cold and missing condiments. We bought the upgrade to the larger room which was actually good, weirdly there's a microwave and kettle, but they do not allow any food to be brought into the rooms. I would strongly say buyer beware, the location is good, there's the usual hustlers on the street. Just don't expect anything memorable from a nice perspective, dont expect them to be of any help at all, they even took our details when we...
