Location is great. Right next to the medina entrance.|Only took about 15min from the airport (depending on traffic). Cost me 15|The hotel is listed as 4stars but I'd says its closer to 1-2 star based on US/EUR standards.|The amenities are pretty much the bare minimum. You get a fridge though and glass cups. I got two waters. Not sure if that is standard or for my two nights. (Didn't get replenished the second day)|The room is quite small but the high ceilings make it seem larger. There are only four lights in the room (bathroom, main, and two night stands). One of the nightstand lights did not work. During the day, there was good light from the windows. The room was a little dark at night. I had a view of a rooftop.|The room is rather dingy. I judge a hotel's cleanliness by whether not I'd feel comfortable walking around barefoot. I used slippers (that I had from the flight) The whole room had tile. The bathroom floor was most dirty. Visible dirt/water stains, etc The floor on the rest of the room was better but not much. There were two rugs on either side that look like they've never been washed before. The bed was not very comfortable. Two singles pushed together with no connector. Not very firm (not much support). Sheets seemed clean though. One pillow and decorative pillow for each bed.|There is a tiny table with a chair. The water and cups were on top of the fridge. There was a closet but no place to put your suitcase.|The bathroom was very small, barely enough room to sit on the toilet. The water faucet had no screen so water tend to spray all over the place. The shower stall bottom actually looked pretty new and clean. The water temperature and pressure was a little hard to control. The door didn't want to stay completely closed so you had to be careful where you pointed the wand.|There was a cold/hot temperature control in the room. It turned on a fan but the temperature of the air never changed.|Breakfast was actually pretty good. Lots a variety including...

An Artful Heritage Beauty!

Not sure why this hotel is so much under the radar, but this is by far one of the most characterful hotels we have ever stayed in during our travels through hundreds of countries! A former British consulate building that is around 400 years old and located in the heart of the old town that oozes charm from very stone and corner! The whole place itself feels like a museum! Considering the price we paid for it, it is probably the best steal of a deal you can find in this continent!

LOCATION: Excellent location right next to the entrance of the Medina and in the heart of Centre ville. Walkable from most Points of interest

DINE + DRINK: Sweet outdoor café attached to the hotel and a ground floor restaurant that serves fine food and a very good breakfast(with a lot of Local goodies!)

ROOM: We stayed in 211, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Lovely. View of the Colonial and heritage monuments and the street outside; SIZE: Reasonably spacious room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning heater that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Grandiose Royale bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Wonderfully decorated Stand in shower fitted with beautiful colored artisan Tiles! ; TOILETRIES: Very random, please bring your own!

FACILITIES: No Gym or Pool – Pure African chill out mode!

SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of.

HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in...

We were very happy to begin our discovery of Tunisia with our new friends at Hotel Royal Victoria. From the messages we exchanged in advance of our arrival, to the minute we showed up, we knew we would be in good hands. A perfect location at the immediate entrance of the madina. Lotfi and his team were kind, welcoming, generous, and professional. Lotfi went above and beyond to ensure we always knew where to go and how to find our way back to the hotel. We stayed in contact with Lotfi as we travelled through Tunis for 2 weeks as he also offered to ensure we found our way from city to city! Very rare you find this type of hospitality and care. The front desk staff and security were simply amazing. We were very happy to have Omar constantly available in the evenings as we went out and about throughout the madina. We enjoyed meeting Omaima who wished us well on our last day ensuring we located our driver to Kairouan. The hospitality staff that cared for our room as Omaima, very kind and caring. The breakfast was simple, cute, and healthy!!! I believe her name was Rabi that took care of us all three days.

At the footsteps of the madina, we had the convenience to frequent the shops, food, cafes, shisha, and the Zaytouni Mosque. This property is conveniently located in the market, and yet a 10-15 minute walk from the typical downtown heart of Tunis where you can find the tram, lounge, bus, and train stations.

Nothing to really report negative about the hotel experience, the room was simply CUTE!!! I would consider a somewhat larger room facing centre of the Bab el Baher, with a walk out veranda… but that will be for next time!

Thank you new friends at Hotel...

Great location. Bathroom had a few issues: *showerhead badly positioned, which lead to the shower hitting the half shower screen and leaking water all over the floor. Breakfast: a real let down as the description on the booking website we used indicates "English or Irish Breakfast" is available. It was very far from anything like an English Breakfast and although we could see there was some kind of hotplate, the member of staff who was supposed to be in charge of it, was more interested in what was happening on her mobile phone. We left - without partaking of any of the poor fayre on offer to entice English or Irish customers. The decor of the hotel is fabulous, so be prepared for an assault of colour to feast your eyes upon. Sadly, the TV didn't function in our room so we couldn't catch up on the news when we returned to our room in the evening or after awakening in the morning. The location however, is excellent 👌 Unfortunately, I couldn't recommend it for anyone seeking an "English Breakfast". There is no bar at the hotel, but we did find a great and hospitable local bar on the Avenue de France on the same side as the Catholic church (a little way past it) and the French Consulate building. We were very well received, looked after and welcomed, particularly as I was the only female in the bar in the late afternoon and again in the evening after our meal at a nearby establishment.

A basic hotel elevated by its location. Sitting at the nexus of the old Medina and new urban Tunis, this former consular outpost of the British Empire offers an ideal observation point for the adjoining square. The balconies are the real highlight: I was lucky enough to get one of six rooms over three floors offering a balcony overlooking the square, and spent many enjoyable hours watching the comings and goings of people below. The building is historic so allowances should be made for room layout, but even with that in mind there is room for improvement. The shower was small and leaked, the mattress was thin and stiff, and the pillows flat. Wifi also did not reach the balconies, which was a minor annoyance since that’s where I passed most of my non-sleeping time at the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful, and breakfast available for a generous four hours each morning. All in, this hotel is in itself an experience, and despite the shortcomings of the room itself I’d not hesitate to stay again, requesting a balcony room.

Great location in the heart of tunis right next to the old souk. The best thing about this hotel are tbe staff. They are incredibly friendly and helpful from the gentleman at the door to the reception to the breakfast manager. The breakfast is good and generous. The rooms are very clean and affordable. The decorations is spectacular and over the top. If you are a minimalist you wont like it haha. They have a meeting room you can rent if needed. Wifi is not reliable but it's there if u need. Its better to buy a sim card near by. The staff helped me with locations, restaurants, printing and anything i needed. The AC is good. Bathroom is clean. They offer soap, shampoo and body wash i believe. And in the room only water There is no water kettle but tou can order from them. They cleaned my room everyday even without asking. And they accommodated my very early check in due to an early flight with no extra charge.
