Location is great. Right next to the medina entrance.|Only took about 15min from the airport (depending on traffic). Cost me 15|The hotel is listed as 4stars but I'd says its closer to 1-2 star based on US/EUR standards.|The amenities are pretty much the bare minimum. You get a fridge though and glass cups. I got two waters. Not sure if that is standard or for my two nights. (Didn't get replenished the second day)|The room is quite small but the high ceilings make it seem larger. There are only four lights in the room (bathroom, main, and two night stands). One of the nightstand lights did not work. During the day, there was good light from the windows. The room was a little dark at night. I had a view of a rooftop.|The room is rather dingy. I judge a hotel's cleanliness by whether not I'd feel comfortable walking around barefoot. I used slippers (that I had from the flight) The whole room had tile. The bathroom floor was most dirty. Visible dirt/water stains, etc The floor on the rest of the room was better but not much. There were two rugs on either side that look like they've never been washed before. The bed was not very comfortable. Two singles pushed together with no connector. Not very firm (not much support). Sheets seemed clean though. One pillow and decorative pillow for each bed.|There is a tiny table with a chair. The water and cups were on top of the fridge. There was a closet but no place to put your suitcase.|The bathroom was very small, barely enough room to sit on the toilet. The water faucet had no screen so water tend to spray all over the place. The shower stall bottom actually looked pretty new and clean. The water temperature and pressure was a little hard to control. The door didn't want to stay completely closed so you had to be careful where you pointed the wand.|There was a cold/hot temperature control in the room. It turned on a fan but the temperature of the air never changed.|Breakfast was actually pretty good. Lots a variety including...

Not sure why this hotel is so much under the radar, but this is by far one of the most characterful hotels we have ever stayed in during our travels through hundreds of countries! A former British consulate building that is around 400 years old and located in the heart of the old town that oozes charm from very stone and corner! The whole place itself feels like a museum! Considering the price we paid for it, it is probably the best steal of a deal you can find in this continent!
LOCATION: Excellent location right next to the entrance of the Medina and in the heart of Centre ville. Walkable from most Points of interest
DINE + DRINK: Sweet outdoor café attached to the hotel and a ground floor restaurant that serves fine food and a very good breakfast(with a lot of Local goodies!)
ROOM: We stayed in 211, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Lovely. View of the Colonial and heritage monuments and the street outside; SIZE: Reasonably spacious room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning heater that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Grandiose Royale bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Wonderfully decorated Stand in shower fitted with beautiful colored artisan Tiles! ; TOILETRIES: Very random, please bring your own!
FACILITIES: No Gym or Pool – Pure African chill out mode!
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of.
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in...
Read moreWe were very happy to begin our discovery of Tunisia with our new friends at Hotel Royal Victoria. From the messages we exchanged in advance of our arrival, to the minute we showed up, we knew we would be in good hands. A perfect location at the immediate entrance of the madina. Lotfi and his team were kind, welcoming, generous, and professional. Lotfi went above and beyond to ensure we always knew where to go and how to find our way back to the hotel. We stayed in contact with Lotfi as we travelled through Tunis for 2 weeks as he also offered to ensure we found our way from city to city! Very rare you find this type of hospitality and care. The front desk staff and security were simply amazing. We were very happy to have Omar constantly available in the evenings as we went out and about throughout the madina. We enjoyed meeting Omaima who wished us well on our last day ensuring we located our driver to Kairouan. The hospitality staff that cared for our room as Omaima, very kind and caring. The breakfast was simple, cute, and healthy!!! I believe her name was Rabi that took care of us all three days.
At the footsteps of the madina, we had the convenience to frequent the shops, food, cafes, shisha, and the Zaytouni Mosque. This property is conveniently located in the market, and yet a 10-15 minute walk from the typical downtown heart of Tunis where you can find the tram, lounge, bus, and train stations.
Nothing to really report negative about the hotel experience, the room was simply CUTE!!! I would consider a somewhat larger room facing centre of the Bab el Baher, with a walk out veranda… but that will be for next time!
Thank you new friends at Hotel...
