💩 TRASH & COCKROACHES CROWN HOTEL OF ISTANBUL 💩 I am not sure about “Golden Crown,” but it should be called Trash and Cockroaches Crown Hotel of Istanbul!!!!!!!!! If you want to destroy your holiday, book this hotel. We were five friends, and we had cockroaches in both rooms during our arrival in 3 hours. The moment you enter, you can already smell the dirt and bad hygiene everywhere and I am shocked, how even cockroaches can survive this sh*thole. And do you know the best Part of it? Hotel Manager is replying to our Booking.com report that “location being surrounded by trees and greenery, and as guests often choose to open windows for fresh air, occasional external factors can occur despite our best efforts” - is this A JOKE? Flying turkish COCKROACHES from windows??? 😂😂😂😂 The hotel is old, dirty, and smells terrible. In the hallway, we even found big clumps of hair — disgusting! 🤢 And outside? Even worse!!!!!!!! Right in front of the hotel there is a huge trash bin, full all day, and never cleaned. The whole street smells like garbage, and that smell goes inside the hotel too. The second you step out of the taxi, it hits your nose like poison. We left the hotel immediately. It was the worst experience ever. Please, don’t book this hotel if you want to save your trip, your money, and your nerves. God bless you🙏

I’m really not sure about the name “Golden Crown,” because it should honestly be called the Cockroaches and Trash Crown Hotel of Istanbul. If you want to ruin your holiday, this is the place to do it. We were five friends and had cockroaches in both of our rooms within just three hours after check-in. The moment you walk inside, you can already smell the dirt and bad hygiene. Honestly, I was shocked at how this place is still open for guests. And the best part? The hotel manager replied to our Booking.com complaint saying: “Because the hotel is surrounded by trees and greenery, and guests often open windows for fresh air, occasional external factors can occur despite our best efforts.” Really? So now flying cockroaches come from “the greenery”? That’s not an explanation — that’s a joke. The hotel is old, dirty, and smells bad. In the hallway, we even found big clumps of hair — absolutely unhygienic. Outside, it’s even worse. There’s a huge trash bin right in front of the hotel, full all day and never cleaned. The whole street smells like garbage, and that smell spreads inside too. The moment you step out of the taxi, it hits you right in the face. We left immediately. It was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had.

Location was perfect. Only a 15 mins walk to Hagia Sophia and the blue Mosquée. Only a 5mins walk to the big market (Grand bazaar) Service was great. Staff was very nice and breakfast options were diverse. The breakfast was really good. So many options and very tasty. I'm giving 3 stars cause the hotel is a bit outdated. There was a foul smell coming from the bathroom. There was a small vent on the floor in the bathroom and I guess with the pipe system, the smell came from that vent. They had a small decor covering it. It was unpleasant as we had to keep the bathroom door closed mostly at nignt cause that's all we smelled. Also our room had a view on a closed pannel that birds could fly in. There were birds waste right in front of our Window. The picture was taken on day 1. We stayed there for 5 days and it was never cleaned. It wasnt a great look.

We selected this hotel because of the 4 stars it had on Tripadvisor. When one is on holiday, the last thing one wants is to return in the evening to an uncomfortable room. |1. The double room shown in the photos online were large, but room 103 was tiny and could not accommodate 2 suitcases either. This is deceitful. |2. When we checked in on the 24th of October, we were allocated on the system, room 102. But the man at the reception changed it to room 103 saying it was a better room. Obviously, it was not a better room as it could not be cooled. Why was this change made, knowing that there was no cooling in room 103? This is deceitful. |3. I complained to reception on the 25th, 26th, 27th of October about the cooling. The reception said that they could not cool the room and they could only heat the room. This was of no use to me as the room was hot like a sauna on the above dates and I needed to cool it to at least 20C to be able to sleep comfortably. When in desperation, I opened the window, a cat came in and also the noise from the road below was too much, so I had to close it again. |4. The room was advertised with air conditioning and I paid for a room with air conditioning. It is unethical, deceitful and unprofessional for them to not provide a room that can be cooled. They also refused a room change saying the hotel was full. |5. The signage outside the hotel says there is a roof top restaurant, but there is no such roof top area. This is deceitful too.|6. The water in the toilet was overflowing continuously. The trickling water kept us awake. We reported this on the 25th morning, 26th, 27, but till we left on the morning of the 29th, nothing was done. |7. There are stray cats roaming in the lounge area. This is not how a professional hotel has to be run. |8. The wash basin, toilet and shower area was not cleaned on the 25th, 26th and 27th of October. They were only cleaned on our last day the 28th. |9. The coffee cups in the room were unclean when we arrived on the 24th night. We cleaned them ourselves. On the following 3 days they were not cleaned. On the 28th, our final day, they were cleaned.|10. On some days the we were provided face towels only. On other days we were provided bath towels only. On our last day we were provided face and bath towels, which I suppose is what was meant to happen on all days. |11. One day we had bottled water in the room, but not on any other day|Considering the above, the housekeeping and maintenance were terrible. The hotel is not customer oriented at all. I did not pay for such tardy service...

Disappointing Stay at the Golden Crowne Hotel

I regret to say that my stay at the Golden Crowne Hotel in Istanbul was far from pleasant. We were initially drawn to the hotel based on its advertisements, but what we experienced was vastly different.

Firstly, our rooms were not as described. Instead of the accommodations we expected, we were given two small double bedrooms that faced a busy junction street. With the air conditioning not functioning, we had no choice but to keep the windows open, exposing us to incessant noise from cars honking, people shouting, and sirens blaring throughout the night. This meant we got absolutely no sleep for the four nights we stayed there.

While the food was enjoyable during the first two days, it became repetitive and uninspired, leaving us dissatisfied for the remainder of our stay.

What truly soured our experience, however, was the hotel management's scammy behavior. After staying at the Golden Crowne Hotel for four nights, we moved to another hotel in Istanbul. As Uber was unavailable for short trips, the management suggested hiring one of their workers to transport our luggage to the new hotel, which was just a 5-minute walk away. We were explicitly told the cost would be 100 Lira. However, upon arrival at the new hotel, the worker demanded 1,000 Lira (£25) for the service.

When we confronted the manager with the help of a local friend, the response was appalling. The manager had the audacity to claim that we had willingly tipped the worker the extra 900 Lira—a completely false accusation. If that were the case, why would we confront them to demand our money back? There was no cause for concern or investigation into this and I am very sure this wasn't the first time this has happened as the receptionist admitted there have been previous cases of this.

This level of dishonesty and lack of accountability from the management is unacceptable. It overshadowed any positives the hotel had to offer and left a lasting bad impression.

I strongly advise anyone considering the Golden Crowne Hotel to think twice. The misrepresentation, lack of basic amenities, and deceitful practices made this one of the worst hotel experiences...

I recently spent six days at this hotel, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. Like any place, it had its pros and cons.

Positive Points: -The location is excellent, just behind the Çemberlitaş station, making it very convenient for transportation. -The hotel is calm and quiet at night, ensuring a peaceful stay. -The staff—Melissa, Usman, and Zeyneb—were incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. -The breakfast was varied, offering a good selection to start the day. The waiting area was cozy and welcoming, providing a comfortable space to relax. -As for our economy room, we had a nice view, and the room was well-heated, with hot water always available.

*Negative Points: -The room was quite small and narrow, making it difficult for two people to move around freely. (This was expected for an economy room, but it was still a bit inconvenient) -The closet space was limited so we had to use our suitcase as a dressing. -The walls were quite thin, so we could hear our neighbors. Luckily, everyone was respectful, and noise wasn’t a major issue. —Regarding cleanliness, I would rate it 4/10. While the sheets, pillow covers, and towels were replaced regularly, I often found hairs on them, which made me feel they were mixed rather than properly changed.

Overall, this hotel is a good choice for travelers looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay. However, it may not be ideal for those seeking a lively,...
