We really enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Travellers Cave Hotel. The Travellers Cave Hotel being one of the high located accommodations on Goreme has Panaromic views of the township and therfore beautiful views of the balloons rising early in the morning. Almost every room has its own beautifully landscaped courtyard. We stayed in room 10 which was on the upperside of the hotel close to reception, the dining are and the shared terraces but then just further away from the township.
The room was good, bathroom was large and the service was great. I especially liked the rainfall shower head in the bathroom. Room service was good with a clean and a towel change every morning that we were there. The breakfast buffet spread was large. The staff were all friendly. A special shout out to Ali at reception who was especially helpful and a wonderful asset to the business.
The hotel is sort of at the outskirts of the Goreme, at an upper vantage point and is multi storied so not so accessible for the elderly and physically challenged. One part of our group were at the lower level and though it was easy for them to get into town, they had to hike up the levels to get to the top for breakfast, reception etc. And while we were at the top and it was easy getting to the top terraces, it was a short hike getting to the bottom into town.
We also booked a private Red Tour with Travellers Cave with their private driver at some 120Euro for our 6 person group. While the driver was very thoughtful, arranging a stop at the local mosque in Urgup (which turned out to be 800 years old) just in time for Zuhr, he was very reluctant to give us any advice or tips on the places we visited. For example, he wouldn't say what to look for in Imagination valley whereas one woukd expect a local to be able to say look for these top 5 things.
Another point to note is that this hotel is pet friendly and can have dogs roaming around particularly around the top terraces and...
Read moreWe absolutely LOVED this hotel! The room was very unique with the cave feel and theme, bed was comfy, living space had a nice sitting area, real fire place, tons of space, bathroom was huge and clean. Only thing that was a bit bothersome was the floor got super wet when we showered – the seal wasn't the best but it didn't ruin our time there. The staff were so helpful and kind to us, they helped us coordinate shuttles for our excursions without question and made sure we were safe and informed at all times. There isn't a pool as stated but there is a jacuzzi tub which was right outside our room (room 5) with a little bistro set. The hotel is pretty much at the highest point in the town, so the views are second to none during the day and at night when everything is lit up. We woke up early on our last day to watch the hot air balloons rise in the fields below, it was an incredible sight to see. There are tons of spots they have set up around the property to take memorable vacation photos. A buffet breakfast is included so we were able to save some money on dining out every day in the morning. My boyfriend and I cannot speak more highly of this property. Caution for those who have trouble walking, since the property is up quite high and it is a very warm climate, you may need to consider booking a shuttle to get you there. The village is very hilly where the hotels are so expect to sweat and be tired by the time you reach your accommodation. There is a secret staircase in the village (the staff can tell/show you where it is) that takes you directly up to the property but it's close to 200 stairs up so you're still going to be exerting some energy if you're not good...
Read moreThe welcoming was very good. The staff was friendly and they even helped with the bags because the room was on the bottom and there are a lot of stairs to get to the top…I struggled a bit to get my laundry that was handed in. They were supposed to return it at 5pm the latest, and by 8pm I had to go ask in person by walking all the way to the top, after numerous calls to reception. The guy working in reception when handing in the keys and getting ready for the airport was not friendly. (Also the same guy who said to wait the whole time for the laundry). It’s as if everything was too much trouble for him.He was also supposed to give breakfast to us leaving early morning for the airport, but he never did - although it was arranged and paid for in the reservation deal.Overall a good stay as the room was clean, private, big and very beautiful. Unfortunately it was too hot at night and I had to sleep with the windows and door open because the water heater could not switch off, even though I asked the, (not friendly) receptionist to assist. He only said turn the knob to the left but it didn’t do anything.I would recommend the hotel 100%, just the receptionist taking over from the welcoming receptionists would make me think twice before staying...
