My wife and I had a very disappointing meal last night. Once we ordered our meals, we did not see our server again for almost two hours. This resulted in us having to order a desert and ask for a check from other waiters walking by. We were never asked for drink or water refills during the duration of our meal. I am assuming they are understaffed like most places but would recommend the restaurant align their number of reservations with their staffs capacity. Looking around the restaurant, many tables seemed to be in similar position. It is a shame to spend $300 and get mostly cold food and wait for so long to eat.

The food was good. The mushroom and spinach raviolis were one of the better appetizers we’ve had in a while. I got the Iberico braised pork belly, which had great fat rendering and flavor, unfortunately, it came out pretty cold. It also came with steak that looked like trimmings of steak tips on top that were so raw I couldn’t even cut with a steak knife. Not sure what that was about. The desert was very tasty but the presentation left a lot to be desired.

They are also too strict with substitutions. The truffle Yukon potatoes looked good so I asked for them with my meal. I was met with a stern “no substitutions” and figured it was because of the presentation of the dish I ordered. So I did let out a little chuckle when the side of potatoes that came with the dish, came out on a separate tiny dish. Very odd I couldn’t swap out two types of mashed potatoes. In itself, this is no big deal but think it is representative of what this place thinks it is, not what they are.

Assuming they just had an off night but wish our obviously poor experience would have been noticed by one of the...

We had high hopes for a lovely dinner on the terrace at Provence by Eric. The two star review is based on poor inattentive service, deceptive menu and impaired atmosphere due to another party. We arrived early for our reservation, and opted to take a seat at the bar and enjoy a cocktail before being seated. The chefs table was bustling, however the entire inside of the bar/restaurant area and most of the outside tables were empty. Maybe 10 filled, tops. A party of 6 arrived just before us without a confirmed reservation - they were seated, greeted by the chef and drinks ordered served. We got to our table - seated right next to the boisterous party of 6. My husband and I could hardly hear one another over their table. The whole experience went south from there. Our waiter only checked on us for our order and then to change our silverware for our main courses. Not for more drinks, water, check to see if we were enjoying the food served, anything. Someone from the back brought our appetizers to us, but did not review which plates arrived and what to expect from the dish. We had to get ourselves another menu to try and figure it out (because our waiter was no where to be found).

The food. Very artistic but a bit deceptive in the menu descriptions. Example - we ordered the grilled octopus. There were only 2 very small tentacles of octopus, 2 moderate sized shrimp, and then sausage. Not what we expected. The special seafood salad was lacking in seafood.

Dinner entrees were lovely. Iberico and bronzino.

Would we go back. Not for the cost and first...

Max this restaurant can get is 2 stars from me as there was a baby cockroach crawling across the table. Crawled across two of our placemats and hid under a plate while we squealed. Waiter didn’t notice until we asked him to come get the roach. He mentioned “there are animals on the island” as a way to blow off the situation and caught the roach, but I think this is completely unhygienic! Waiter did not wipe the table down after catching the roach and was going to just give 1 new plate until we asked him to wipe at least the area where the roach was killed down. He used a napkin to give it a quick wipe and that was it. I was sitting by chef’s table, and roach crawled out of the kitchen / food preparation table. Knowing this, it was difficult to enjoy the food as I kept imaging the roaches crawling over them. No compensation / apology for the roach! And it was my mom’s birthday!

Service was mediocre, with the waiter seemingly quite rushed despite the restaurant being less than half full. Food was decent if you ignore the lack of hygiene due to the roach. My sea bream was a bit overcooked but the cauliflower risotto below was decent. Foie gras was unique. Angus rub was pretty standard. Butternut squash ravioli was decent but...

We decided to eat here on Thanksgiving and it blew us away, so we returned the next night for another fantastic meal. The food - every dish we ordered arrived with the "wow" factor - beautiful presentation, extremely creative combinations of flavors, and absolutely fresh and delicious. Every bite was different because Chef Eric designs his dishes with so many unique facets to each item. Even the various plates/dishes he uses are beautiful (check out the photos to see how amazing the dishes are). The service - we were welcomed warmly by several of the staff and were seated in Vanessa's section. She is an excellent server and a lovely person - we enjoyed her so much that we requested her on our second night there. In addition, everyone on the staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and professional - the chef has prepared them well. The atmosphere - we chose to sit outside both nights. The tables are well-spaced so you have privacy and can chat without hearing other guests. Also, the way they set up the outside with the lighting, etc. is romantic and relaxing. Both evenings we were there, there was a beautiful breeze which added to the experience.

Hands down one of the top 3 restaurants we have ever been to! We were there the last week of June. It was so good the first time that we had to go back a second time. The first night we sat at the chef’s table where we watched Chef Eric and his staff in front of us working their magic as a team creating meals with amazing attention to detail. The presentation of everything we ordered was fantastic but how incredible the food looked was bested by how delicious they tasted. No matter what we ordered over two nights, the appetizers (yes several), the entrees and deserts were insanely good! The menu was different the second night and it didn’t matter. It was just as good. Btw, do not leave without eating the desserts especially the Death By Chocolate. Whoever gives Provence a bad review either has issues or has an underlying nefarious reason.
