Having stayed in numerous hotels in Dubai over many years, this hotel was a serious disappointment. Our review can be broken down into 2 categories: Staff and hotel. I can safely say that you will not meet nicer Staff than we met in the La Verda, they are honestly a credit to their profession. So caring, friendly,helpful and knowledgable. Special mention to all the Staff at Reception, Carmella, Cristy, Marcellina,Hanane and Joris. The Breakfast Staff could also not be more helpful, Ana, Alex and Fatima, so attentive! Edwin and the guys at the Concierge are also so helpful, nothing is to much trouble. The understaffed and very hard working Housekeeping Staff must also be appreciated, always smiling and working so hard when obviously understaffed. As for the hotel, sadly it must have seen better times. The apartments are very dated, the WIFI is intermittent verging on non existent, the televisions (when they work) are to small for the rooms, the dirty, noisy Air Conditioning has a mind off its own. Our 2 major concerns however were the general cleanliness of the hotel and COVID precautions. The hotel and our apartment were found to be really quite dirty, this is not a reflection on the very hard working Housekeeping Staff who try very hard, there are simply not enough Staff to deliver the service they want to. The paint in the Breakfast bar was seen to peeling off the walls and the Air Conditioning Ducts were filthy. As for COVID precautions, they are next to non existent, a couple off signs on the floor is as far as it goes. The Pool area and Sun loungers are never sanitised after use, no Hand Sanitisers are provided anywhere in the hotel for guests. At the weekends numerous guests arrive without any Face coverings and on several occasions we observed senior management also not wearing Face coverings. In conclusion, would I stay at the La Verda again, I would for one night to reacquaint with the fabulous Staff. As for the hotel, it needs a major refurbishment and probably a senior management that that is aware off what is required off a Dubai hotel in 2020, there are far nicer and cheaper hotels in the vicinity. Read moreI stayed in this hotel in November 2020, my arrival went well, I was supposed to stay 20 nights in this hotel. At checkin the hotel has charged my credit card for the full amount - usually similar hotels do only a blockage of the amount, but the charge at checkout.||||PROs:||- Gym is very well equipped, I liked the view to the marina||- Beds are ok - but could be more comfy||- The appartments are equipped nicely||||MAIN CON:||==================================================||- Refunds are processed only after involving DTCM!!!||==================================================||||More CONs:||- Guests need to be registered at day of checkin. You cannot register them later.||- I didn't feel comfortable at the pool area. The atmosphere/mood/view was just not very welcoming||- It's quite far away from JBR||||Conclusion:||I had to leave Dubai earlier than expected due to a Covid related family emergency. The hotel told me at checkout, that the refund about 3500 AED is going to take 4 - 8 weeks. They told me, that is, because banks will need some time to process it. Which is a clear lie. Banks are not slower than usual due to covid! Such lies are just unacceptable and should happen in hotel, where you expect good service. After 8 weeks I had to follow-up with the hotel, and the only thing I got back were excuses. Quote: "The email below has been transferred to our accounts department and still, we didn't get any information yet, we will update you once it's refunded."||||Finally I had to call Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing or DTCM. They followed up with the hotel, and I got my refund within 2 days.||||Therefore I cannot recommend this hotel at all.
