Aberdein Considine — Local services in Aberdeen City

I found that I am not alone when seeing the 1-star comment here which related to the legal team's approach.

My concern stems from their insistence on moving directly to the legally binding contract stage without a clear preliminary agreement in place. This felt premature and disregarded my needs and the seller's initial understanding.

Specifically, the lawyer repeatedly urged me to proceed to the contract phase – mentioning this pressure three times. (her words also showed her rudeness and impatience - this is the third time that I have asked you for this) but we didn't agree on anything, actually I and the seller preliminary agreed with some terms, but a lawyer jumped in and said this was not common practice for under offer. I think as long as this is legitimate and we both agree for some reasons, why do we have to border the norms, she just doesn't want to reconfirm our understanding (yes, she replied normally within 5 minutes) then push me to contract stage.

This pushy attitude made me uncomfy, as it seemed to prioritise their fees over facilitating a mutually beneficial agreement. Their stance, that our preliminary understanding was not 'normal practice,' felt dismissive.

While I found the estate agent team to be acceptable, despite some errors, the legal team's lack of professionalism and apparent self-interest has led me to conclude that I cannot recommend their legal services.

I can imagine they don't really care about the customer, like thinking if this isn't the buyer, someone else...

Stay away from them. They will appear as the least pricey among what seems the group of top-companies. Again: stay away, they are not worth it! It's an arrogant company that will stop dealing with you once you signed up with them. Their quality of work might be up to required level but they certainly don't have you, the customer in mind when communicating. Approach them with great mistrust and ask as many questions. Be happy when they answer anything. In fact, they will decide not to respond to your questions and not share information nor documents. Customer service means NOT to translate legal language for you. They are the classic old-men club, 'modern times' have not happened at this company. Modern forms of marketing are only slowly adopted. Their timing is often very off - you need to push them all along, otherwise they won't do a thing. That does include their property-showing process (such poor service is what you get when they don't charge you for it) and the handling...

This was our first transaction in Scotland, so the whole process was new for us. From the beginning, they were very approachable, always available, clear with their advice and extremely friendly. They are quite the opposite to the picture that people can have about solicitors. When there were challenges with the other party in the process, Aberdein Considine were exceptional in ensuring corners were not cut, and the best outcome was reached. There were 4 members of their team involved in different parts of the process. Each member was first class in their role, and their internal communication was excellent. There was not one occasion where the ball was dropped, or messages missed. Very impressive team, with a particular mention for Samantha Gilbert who was always able take the tension out of a stressful period.
