My stay at Boltonia Hotel in Blackpool left much to be desired. Despite the friendly demeanor of the owners, the overall experience fell short of expectations, warranting an average rating of two stars.
Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the owners, who seemed genuinely hospitable. However, any initial positive impressions quickly dissipated upon entering the room. The decor was outdated, reminiscent of a bygone era, and the curtains were so thin that they provided minimal insulation against the noise from the bustling road outside. Consequently, sleep became a luxury that I struggled to attain, as the incessant traffic kept me awake most nights.
The room itself was in dire need of renovation. The kettle, ostensibly a staple amenity, was disappointingly covered in dust, indicating a lack of attention to cleanliness. Moreover, the scarcity of power points was inconvenient, especially in the age of electronic devices. The shower experience was equally underwhelming, with a feeble flow of water rendering it more or less useless. To make matters worse, the drains emitted a foul odor, further detracting from the already subpar accommodations.
Venturing into the hotel's restaurant, I was met with a similarly lackluster experience. The dated ambiance and worn-out crockery and glassware did little to inspire confidence in the quality of the fare. Indeed, the food resembled that of a greasy spoon cafe, failing to meet even modest culinary standards. Consequently, I only ate toast most days & I opted to dine elsewhere, preferring to forgo meals rather than subject myself to further disappointment.
Even the basic amenities, such as towels, failed to meet expectations. Desperately in need of replacement, the towels were not only old but also discolored, resembling more of a dingy grey than their original hue.
Given the overall state of disrepair and the underwhelming experience, the hefty price tag of £270 for a four-night stay felt exorbitant and wholly unjustified. Despite the friendly demeanor of the owners, I cannot in good conscience recommend Boltonia Hotel to fellow travelers. My stay was marred by sleepless nights and unsatisfactory accommodations, leaving me with a lingering sense of regret and...
