I stayed three nights in this hotel with my wife. The hotel it’s located near the Paddington station of the Underground, so you can move to the rest of the city easily.
Our room was on the third floor. The building doesn’t have an elevator so we had to climb the stairs every time. We knew this and it was no big deal for us because we are young enough to climb three floors every time but it’s not recommended for older people or people with disabilities.
The reception was small and ugly but the man that was in charge was very nice to us. We asked him if the hotel offers some kind of breakfast service and, despite a few reviews that we’d read that said they had, he said they hadn’t. The reception was empty most of the time. It seems that they are linked to other hotel in the same block so if you need anything you can call or go to the other building.
The room was very small but clean. We were pleasantly surprised when we found a little fridge and a microwave included. That allowed us to buy and heat food but be aware that the room doesn’t include cutlery (you can get disposable cutlery at Tesco). The room also had a boiler and two mugs with little spoons. The room also included many coffee sachets and sugar.
There was a closet with enough space to store our luggage (two carry-on bags) and hang clothes. Unfortunately they only provided two hangers.
The bathroom was tiny but clean and all the elements (toilet, shower, sink) looked pretty new. Yes, the mirror had some stains and the soap holder had tartar, but we didn’t care. The room had two big towels and a small one.
We had housekeeping the three days we stayed there.
They had free wi-fi and it worked well except one night that we lost connection to the router until the other day. They tell you to reconnect every 24 hs. but this was other problem.
I found the room to be very hot for July. It had one small window with a view to the back of the building. The room also included a fan so we were fine with temperature.
The second evening we were in the hotel and the fire alarm triggered in the whole building. It sounded very loud and we didn’t know what to do. The only thing we know is that someone came and deactivated it.
At midnight we were woken up by an argument between a new guest and the guy who was at reception. The new guest was a woman (some kind of British Karen) who complained about climbing the stairs. Her room was on the top floor and she kept saying that they didn’t say on the web that the building had no elevator which is not true.
Overall I think it was ok. I think it's expensive for what you get but it's the...
Read moreI am just back from spending 3 nights here. We booked it as the location is ideal, we were on a budget and it got ok reviews on booking.com. |Firstly the location is excellent, it is around the corner from paddington underground, lots of bars and restaurants and shops. Very convenient. We could also walk to hyde park and to oxford st. The bedding and towels were clean.|Negatives are probably too many to list... when we arrived three people were standing blocking the door smoking, nice first impression. The "reception" is up one flight of stairs, it's more like a little hutch you stand at the door and you're given your key. Our room was at the top, no elevator but that was fine only the stair cases carpet was actually filthy and covered in stains. |Our room door was damaged looking with a key stuck in the bottom lock. The room was small which we had expected so that was grand. The walls were grubby and stained with something that had poured down this was also on the back of the bathroom door. There was a small table at the end of the bed with a tray for tea/coffee and kettle. This was filthy! The table was not wiped in a long time. The water in the shower was hit and miss, it was hard to have a constant warm shower it went up and down or else stayed cold. I have to say I was expecting more, I had read reviews and thought it would be grand but I cannot describe how dirty everything was around the room we really did get the yuck feeling. We would never...
Read moreI was booked this hotel as a corporate work booking and once booked I took to Trip advisor and was extremely worried when I read the reviews. I got there after a train ride from Cardiff to Paddington and literally was a 5 minute walk from the station. I was met at the door and taken up to the office on the first floor. I filled in the paperwork, given my key and the password for the internet. I was given room number 15 which was on the 4th floor. The keys consist on your room key and also the front door key. ||I opened my door to a single room which for me was adequate for the one night I was staying. The view was facing the main road which was surprisingly quiet. The room had a single bed, 2 little cupboards, a microwave, kettle and a small corner rail to hang clothes. The bathroom had a big shower and was clean. The heating was on 5 and too hot for such a small room but I turned that down. ||I went out for the evening and you are close enough to Marble Arch, Hyde Park, Oxford Street etc, the only think is that when I returned at 11pm, the lady in the room next to me was talking so loudly on the phone you could hear it all! ||All in all I was happy with the room, I checked out by leaving my key on the side at around 7.30am, breakfast was not included on my booking so can’t...
