As I was checking in, the lady at the counter said they were renovating rooms and I had been picked out for an upgrade. The "upgrade" consisted of me beeing moved to another hotel... She only told me this AFTER taking payment though.
She was really busy telling me how much better the other hotel was.
I had a suspicion what was coming, but had no time available to discuss further.
From Tripadvisor, I see this has happened to others as well - leading me to conclude they do this trick regularly. Checking further, the "upgrade" went from a 3,5 points hotel to a 2,5 point one.
Having moved over to the Prince William hotel, I was handed a room key that didn't work. 4 floors down to reception, they coded the key again and sent me back up without the tiny word sorry being used. The room I was given had a really fresh, new bathroom, but everything else was very basic. Worst of all was the fact the single-glaced windows let all the noise from the busy Praed Street (in front of hotel). On top of that there was no ventilation, aircon or similar. Even with the windows closed (because of noise), I decided to leave and find somewhere suitable for sleeping.
Called the Hyde Park Boutique hotel back today, asked for a refund and made it perfectly clear I did accept the fact they had taken full price for a 1) way inferior room and 2) one that sleeping wasn't possible inside. The answer only was: send me an email. Told that they could not refund, and would not discuss at all.
AVOID this hotel. Some people seem to be given good rooms, but you also run the risk of being sent to a "sister hotel", paying full price for an...

This hotel should not be in business. We booked a room with two beds and when we arrived it was not mentioned to us that the room was not available until THEY HAD ALREADY GOTTEN ALL OF OUR INFORMATION AND DEPOSIT. We heard a group of 3 girls who the same thing happened right before us. We told them they did not inform us by phone or email or nothing, the man at reception could not care less. This was a big red flag and I wish we would have just turned around at that point but it was already evening and had nowhere else to go. This is not even the worst part!!!! I found beg bugs in my room and was bitten on my face!!!! The other people saying there are bed bugs are not lying!!! I took videos, pictures, and even gave the guy from reception a bed bug in toilet paper, HE COULD NOT CARE LESS. We were supposed to stay two night, left after the first when we found the bed bugs. Not only did we not get what we paid for, this hotel is infested with beg bugs...... please do not book here as you will 10000000% regret it. I have attached email showing that the hotel knew and acknowledged everything that happened during my stay and now they will not return my phone calls or emails. I am currently fighting them through my credit card company and am looking at other avenues to get compensated for this horrific and disgusting experience. ALSO, HOTEL DO NOT BOTHER RESPONDING UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE ACTION TO FIX...
Read moreI booked this hotel for its convenient location near Paddington Station for a 4-night stay to attend a concert and cultural activities in London. Upon arrival, we encountered a series of concerning issues:
First, we were informed of 'maintenance' and directed to their sister property, Central Park Hotel, approximately 1km away. They offered free breakfast as compensation. However, upon reaching the sister hotel, we discovered it was essentially a construction site with full-scale renovations, plastic-covered corridors, and constant drilling noise.
More alarmingly, after researching online reviews of Central Park Hotel, we found concerning reports of mold and bed bugs. This prompted us to immediately return to Hyde Park Boutique Hotel to request a refund. Suddenly, they 'found' availability in a family room at the original hotel, requiring a room change the next day - contradicting their initial claim of maintenance issues.
The staff's handling of the situation was unprofessional, and resolving the issue through Hotels.com took three hours, nearly causing us to miss our concert - the primary purpose of our London visit. As someone who spent over a decade traveling 200 days annually for business worldwide, I've never encountered such questionable practices.
I rarely write reviews, but feel compelled to warn others. The attempt to relocate guests to a hotel under heavy renovation without prior notice is unacceptable. Future guests deserve transparency about the actual conditions...
