WORST ‘HOTEL’ I HAVE EVER STAYED IN, WITH RUDE STAFF.
I booked this hotel for 2 nights because they said they had extra sanitation measures in place. On arrival, it became very clear that the room was not cleaned at all beyond a change of bedsheets (which had only a sheet to separate you from a shared mattress and no mattress protectors) and a wipe of the shower/sink.
The room was thick with dust and grime, and covered in hair from previous guests. The carpet was not hoovered, evidenced by the random hairgrips, coins and hairs on the floor. There were used earplugs down the side of the bed. There room absolutely stunk of urine. The fan was covered in dust, there was a random desk chair in the corner covered in god knows what, and the shower was unusable because the shower head was covered in grime. There was a brown smudge on the bathroom wall. There were loose wires hanging from the walls. Just look at the photos and see for yourself. These are just a few of the photos.
I arrived at the hotel close to midnight with nowhere else to go, so I slept in the room and left as soon as possible in the morning, handing a staff member my keys and explaining why I wanted to leave early. I was offered no remedy or alternative room, and I have been pursuing a refund since November with no luck. The only employees I saw at this ‘hotel’ are male, and they have all been quite aggressive and confrontational in their correspondence, which, as a solo female traveler, is very off-putting.
The person communicating on behalf of the hotel flat out said I was lying when I emailed asking for a refund, insinuating I was looking for a “free room”. I explained that the room was non-conforming under CRA 2015 and offered to send them photographs, and they have since completely ignored me.
I have finally had to put in a claim with the small claims court to get my refund back after months of the ‘hotel’ not responding, and will be pursuing a refund that way.
I would advise anyone and everyone else to steer well clear of this hotel. The pictures they use do not match the actual state of the rooms, and their business practices are immoral. They think they are above the law. They also lied about my check-out process when I applied for a refund, not being smart enough to consider that I have evidence, or that their own CCTV exposes their lies and is available under GDPR FOI requests.
As an aside, the walls are incredibly thin and you can hear people coming and going at all hours, dragging suitcases up stairs next to your head when you are...
Read moreFor those who’ve always dreamed of putting on a little dust on the vacation 😶🌫️ In summary: A perfect place to stay if you need a reminder of why you usually opt for hotels with cleaning included. For us, it won’t be a return visit.
During our stay in London, we booked This hotel. The photos here on google paint a completely different picture of the hotel we arrived to and there was no dining/breakfast area. The hotel offers nothing beyond the room itself, in other words. No communal spaces are available.
We compact room measuring roughly 3.5 by 4.5 metres (plus a small bathroom) – which might have been fine, if it hadn’t felt like a case study in neglected cleaning.
Dust came in many styles: on the lamp cords, curtain rail, walls and on the fan. All gathered in such thick layers that it almost seemed like part of the décor.
The black grout between the bathroom tiles we chose to interpret as mould, just to keep expectations realistic. Around light switches and handles were visible stains, presumably grease or other everyday grime. 🤢 The fridge, another highlight, contained old food and smelled so bad 😵 we chose not to open it again until we’d bought disinfectant wipes.
The shower head had a mind of its own and sprayed water in all directions and the flood risk in the bathroom was so high that we became experts at turning the tap off in record time. Otherwise, the water risked flowing out 🌊 onto the rest of the floor and into the actual room.
The bed linen was white. Whether it was freshly washed? Unclear. 🙄 It was very noisy, and some of the doors in the building make quite a sound when opened and closed – we were woken up a few times by noise from doors and other guests.
Out of pure survival instinct, just to be able to stay, we ended up buying scented cleaning wipes to remove stains without feeling the constant urge to wash our hands, and slippers so we wouldn’t have to walk barefoot on the floor.
But there were some bright spots! The staff was very friendly. We didn’t get any towels for hands or bathroom rug to use after shower at first, but after asking (and asking again), we were eventually given some mote towels 👏🏽. The window was faced to the courtyard and was very quiet, a welcome...
Read moreNot sure how they have all these 5 stars. Please read other detailed reviews. Location, definitely a 5 star Room itself (considering the room I stayed in which is on the 3rd floor of the building, should have no star). Bathroom had a smell. The bathroom was also not flowing properly, so I had to bath in the pool of the water that had been used already.
There was no elevator, so if you have a luggage be ready for a long painful hike. If decency, a fair or good experience is what you want, then you may want to consider elsewhere. Hygiene condition I am still questioning considering the stench from the bathroom and what I have had to face with my skin lately.
No internet service on the 3rd floor, so be weary when you are posted up there. Definitely not a 3 star hotel - may struggle for a 2 star. The receptionist there I may have given a 5 star but I really can't because of what he said to me on the day I told him I had no internet service and couldn't connect. He made me feel like I was lying, more or less like - it's your problem. When all he would have done was try the connection to see. However, they offered 16 pounds as a goodwill for the inconvenience (not having internet), which I appreciate but that doesn't change the way I feel. However, my honest I believe would help someone else make a better decision. I hope the owners try to salvage this place and give it a quality touch so as to encourage a...
