A refreshing French experience in London with this charming restaurant/bistro. The decor, ambiance, food and service, all, were excellent. They are also very good in offering Gluten Free and Vegan options, If you booked online you'll be able to select and to draw their attention to the allergens that you wish to avoid. They have a small menu but each item on it has a creative twist to it. We started with cocktails and I had the lemon and lavender from the Mocktails list and it was superb. We also tried the panisse, which is a provencale snack made of chick pea flour butter and fleur de sel. It was served with an exceptionally good allioli and rosemary/salt. The burger was very good and the french fries were outstanding. The confit de Canard, served with dauphinoise and some cherry compote, was also very good. We ate a lot but we managed a space for a dessert called Le Petit Citron. It was absolutely delicious and just right after the meal. Overall experience was very good and we'll be back. The place is very clean and the tables are well spaced. Their list of wine is good and offering only french wines. The staff very professional with friendly smiles. Highly recommended.
Update 2: On Saturday between 10:00-11:00 breakfast is 50% with 9 items to choose from. The vegetarian option was superb. The ratatouille, part of this dish, was made to perfection with reconstituted sun dried tomatoes added to it and elevating it to a high end recipe. The mushrooms were very good. My husband opted for the steak hache and said this was one of the best he’s had. Hurry up and don’t miss out! A wonderful place to try.
Update 3: Monday’s vegetarian night specials. What a treat! Very interesting and creative dishes. Very...
Read moreWe recently moved to the area and every time we walked by we wanted to give Le Petit Citron a try. Finally one evening I invited a couple of friends to go with us. Although the ambiance was nice, the service, the food and the wine selection were subpar.
We ordered a £37 bottle of the Villa des Croix Pinot Noir and it tasted weak, almost watered down. All four of us agreed on that… it definitely wasn’t worth the money.
The starters we ordered were nothing special, especially disappointed with the Pate. It wasn’t smooth but rather had a crumbly texture.
One of my friends and I ordered the Entrecôte for our main which arrived cold and overdone although we were told it would be cooked medium. My husband ordered the Rigatoni which he didn’t enjoy, he said it wasn’t appetizing and he couldn’t finish it. My other friend ordered the Onglet steak which she said was also tough and cold. She couldn’t finish it as well.
We were there on a quiet Monday night. There were only 3 other tables apart from ours so there’s no excuse for our food arriving cold and service being bad, it’s not like they were slammed. There was enough wait staff (3) and somehow service was still very slow and they managed to forget about the bottle of Merlot we ordered later on. Although it never arrived they still added it to the bill. When I pointed it out it was taken off the bill but this is still unacceptable. There seems to be a lack of management at this restaurant unfortunately and we won’t be back. There are many more better alternatives around the...
Read moreA rather awkward experience…I had ordered the Entrecôte steak (rare), the steak came and it was medium, I asked the manager, how do you think this steak is cooked and he agreed it wasn’t rare. The steak went back to the kitchen and I was told a new one would be coming out.
The manager apologised and said the steak would be removed from the bill. Great, mistakes are made and the manager had done his best to rectify the situation due to my food now being late and now eating separately to my girlfriend. Finished the food which was great, had a coffee and asked for the bill the coffee had been taken off the bill.
The bill came and to my surprise the steak was still on there so I asked why that was, as the manager had said it would be removed. The manager then came over and explained that the steak he had removed was the second recooked steak. If a mistake is made with the food and another is to be cooked the customer would not be excepted to pay this anyway so why was it even mentioned that this would be removed from the bill!! The whole thing was very confusing and ultimately awkward by the time it had got to this point I didn’t have the patience to argue any further. So for a late over cooked steak there was a free espresso coffee which doesn’t really seem fair to me.
In future it would be sensible if managers didn’t say “this is coming off the bill” when in reality it isn’t and maybe just offer some free drinks or take the starters off the menu....
