Fabulous dinner at a new family owned Mexican restaurant, Fiesta Cancun. The owners are some of the warmest and friendliest people you will ever meet! They went above and beyond to accommodate us and were very welcoming.

They are not only passionate about their food but also have put their heart and soul in the decor with a theme of bold colorful painted scenes and carving depicting their home country. Pretty much a kaleidoscope of sensory fiestas! I mean, the theme is everywhere yet tasteful. On the walls, tables, chairs, counters, columns, etc. Truly a “colorful feast” for the eyes, which adds to a cheerful vibe only to be complemented by a diverse menu featuring all the classic dishes to be expected in a Mexican restaurant and more.

My party included 4 strict vegetarians (dairy is ok but no eggs) and myself (not a vegetarian). Earlier in the day, I had messaged with Jacky, the owner’s daughter who also happened to be our server that evening, to alert her about our dietary restrictions and understanding what being a strict vegetarian means. Talk about being accommodating! She said that because their usual rice is cooked with a chicken or beef based stock, she would have her father (the chef) prepare Cilantro Lime White Rice (not on the menu) which be prepared without using any chicken or beef stock. The refried beans will also be freshly made for us without any meat flavoring. Extra care would be taken during the cooking process to avoid cross contamination. I was impressed!

That evening, we started with the usual courtesy chips and salsa and a homemade hot sauce (I had specially requested this and boy, did it pack a punch!). The chips were good, crisp and no funky oil smell. The salsa was a little too puréed for us. We prefer a little chunky but it was still flavorful. We also had freshly made guacamole dip with jalapeños added, cheese sauce dip, and fiesta dip (includes minced beef, pico de gallo and cheese sauce and added jalapeños). Enjoyed it all.

For our entrees, the vegetarians in our party ordered a custom made Bean Burrito stuffed with cauliflower, onions, green peppers and carrots topped with a cheese sauce. They also ordered a Spinach and Mushroom Quesadilla and a Vegetable Fajita (with green peppers, carrots, mushroom, yellow squash and onion). Asked for all wraps to be made using Flour Tortillas as we are not fond of corn tortillas. I ordered a Chicken and Steak Fajita (the dish normally comes as a trio of chicken, beef and shrimp but as I don’t eat seafood, I asked to replace the shrimp with more of the chicken and steak). All dishes are accompanied by rice (they had made the Cilantro Lime white rice for us), refried beans, lettuce, guacamole, cheese, sour cream and pico de gallo).

Everything was delicious! For me personally, the steak in my fajita could have been seasoned more but I added the homemade hot sauce to elevate the flavor of the overall dish. However, the vegetarians loved what they ordered. Everything was well seasoned, nothing mushy or overcooked, flavors jumping out! The portions were also good. We were quite full and thus skipped dessert. We did not have any of the margaritas or any other alcoholic libations.

So, is the food the best Mexican in Central Florida? That’s subjective to what one desires at a Mexican restaurant. I can definitely say for families with young children who will appreciate all the color and decor, and for vegetarians, it is definitely among some of the best in Central Florida in terms of variety and flavor. Prices are reasonable and choices plenty. Most important is that everything is made fresh and the menu items are adaptable to one’s...

Friend from out of town staying nearby came here a few days ago and insisted we come for his last night here. We did. And it was wonderful! It was a Friday night and the place was jammed. Call early and make a reservation. We did and we got seated right on time.

Atmosphere was warm, welcoming and very festive. FESTIVE! If you’re looking for a quiet dinner, this ain’t it! It’s LOUD. However, the food is GREAT! Portions are huge, prices are reasonable, and served up piping hot.

We got there a little early, so while we waited for our table, hubs got a big giant beer… for $11 and change.😳

Chips and salsa. Really good. Corn chips were hot and crispy, with just the right hint of sweet. Salsa was fresh and very tasty - not sweet - like a lot of places. We liked it a lot.

Appetizer - Nachos with refried beans, cheese and Queso dip. YUM.

Looking around, the restaurant is colorful and lively. There doesn’t seem to be a single surface that isn’t brightly painted. The work that went into decorating this restaurant cannot be overstated. This is not a place for sad people, who want to keep feeling sad.

Everything was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount t of salt and spice. Portions are so big, the food is served on platters, not dinner plates.

Hubs had the steak fajita and our friend had El Mazatlan shrimp burrito and we didn’t hear a peep from them except for “…ummm mmm OMG this is good, this is really good.” I thought his steak was a little overcooked at well done, but he didn’t complain.

Daughter had the Vegetarian plate of bean and cheese burrito, cheese enchilada and cheese quesadilla. It was really nice to see a dedicated section on the menu for vegetarian dishes (but it’s not shown on the menu online - it’s the flip side of the menu shown online).

I had the Playa Del Carmen tilapia and shrimp with Chipotle cream sauce, served with rice, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo and an excellent guacamole. I usually shy away from ordering fish because most places tend to overcook it. I just wanted shrimp, but my meal came with tilapia and I just went with it instead of making a special request, and I’m glad I got it as it is on the menu. My tilapia and shrimp were delicious! Perfectly cooked and super tasty.

We ordered a “side” of platanos maduros (sweet plantains) with mozzarella cheese. Thought we were getting a small serving. I don’t think there’s a small serving of anything at Fiesta Cancun.

No one could finish their meal.

Next time I might skip the appetizer, just because the portions are so big, and we had filled up on chips and salsa and nachos.

Our server, Evelyn, was friendly, knowledgeable, and kept our drinks filled until we left. She did this impressive thing before we left. She stacked 6 of those big Fiestaware platters and then my husband’s cast iron skillet on top and carried them away like nobody’s business. Deep respect for girl power. 💪🏻💪🏻 Thank you, Evelyn!

Would highly recommend Fiesta Cancun for a fun night out. We’d definitely come back and highly...

We were meeting a close friend across town for dinner yesterday and discovered Fiesta Cancun Mexican Restaurant on Yelp. When we arrived, we realized that this restaurant replaced a Turkish restaurant that we had been to before. When we stepped inside….WOW, an explosion of color. This restaurant is decorated with beautiful and vibrantly colored carvings depicting Mexican culture. These aren’t pictures on the wall, it’s more of a continual carved wood panoramic mural that envelopes diners in the story of Mexico. The tables, chairs and booths were also carved and fit in seamlessly. There were also beautiful lights throughout the restaurant. There is so much to see, I can imagine many diners walking around the entire dining room to enjoy the scenes. This is an incredibly beautifully decorated restaurant where you can see the owners spent a great deal of money and time creating. I do t think there is a more beautiful Mexican restaurant anywhere. This isn’t just a beautiful restaurant, the food is delicious. In addition to the chips and salsa that the restaurant brings to the table we started out with a large bowl of fresh guacamole ($7.25) that was incredibly flavorful. We ordered Chicken Fajitas ($13.99), Enchiladas Suizas ($11.99), Nachos Supreme ($11.99) and a Cheesesteak Burrito ($12.99). The Enchilafas Suizas were 4 enchiladas with a spiced Mexican cream topping that was so tasty although a little on the edge of too spicy, the Cheesesteak Burrito was huge and could easily have been shared among two (half of it came home to be enjoyed again) and the Nachos were really good. The only negatives to speak of are easy fixes and involved the Chicken Fajitas. The rice that came with it was a bit dry…it should be plated after the entire hot plate comes out of the broiler and the flour tortillas were a bit on the crisp side rather than soft as they should be. Our server was friendly and attentive. We will most definitely return and likely will return soon and recommend this restaurant to everyone looking for a...

We came in for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. We were not greeted by the host. He scrambled to look for the menus and brought us to our table. We both opened our menus and the pages were sticking together with food. We should’ve left at that point. The server finally came to the table after about 5 minutes to take our drink order which was a water and a soda. The soda was dropped off then a few minutes later, she brought the water, chips and salsa. We immediately looked at each other when we tried the salsa and wondered why is tasted like pasta sauce…so we asked the server to bring queso, instead. (We thought how much worse can it get?)The queso was not great but better than the salsa. Our food arrived, brought by someone in the kitchen. We realized the server had never given us silverware so we asked that person for silverware. They never came back so we went to the host counter to ask for some so we could start eating. The amount of time it took for then to get the silverware was ridiculous. All of the food was dry and did not taste rate fresh at all. (tamales and burrito) We ran out of chips before our food had arrived and we never saw our server again to ask for more even though we had a most of our queso left. We didn’t finish the food, it tasted so bad. We went to the front asked for the check, paid and left. Dirty menus, gross salsa, dry food and bad service. Not to mention the sensory overload of loud music, close quarters and over the top decor. We will NOT be back. Do not waste your time or money going here. I wish we hadn’t!
