My first experience was dining in with my Mom on a Monday morning around 9:30AM. We waited in the lobby for about 5-6 minutes without being greeted or acknowledged. There seemed to be a decent amount of waitresses working and the dining room seemed to be rather empty considering it was the morning time and it appeared to be known for their breakfast menu and bakery when I searched it on the internet prior to going there. When we were finally seated by our waitress, we got a private booth in her section and she provided excellent service throughout our stay. She immediately took our drink orders. The coffee was rather bland and watery, and no matter how much sugar I added to it, it still tasted bitter. They also don't leave the coffee pot on the table to refill it yourself like iHop and Denny's. They also don't leave a syrup caddy on each table- again, the way that most breakfast restaurants do. I had to ask specifically for syrup even though I ordered french toast without the eggs and breakfast meat that usually comes with the combo. Their new menu items, "Bakery Inspired Breakfasts", looked delicious. I decided to try the blueberry muffin french toast. My mom ordered from the regular menu, probably something low fat. The portions were huge! The french toast looked just like the picture on the menu, and our food was out fast, tasted fresh, and even the plates were warm to the touch. We only waited about 5-10 minutes at the most for our food to be up. We could have taken home the leftovers in boxes, but breakfast never tastes the same reheated. Our waitress was on point: asking us if we needed refills or how the food was while she managed several other tables with large parties. I was impressed by her service and the food in general.
The second time I had Perkins Restaurant and Bakery in Altamonte Springs was just a few days later with my partner. I was raving to her that I had found a hidden gem right down the road from us. We created a login on their website and ordered to-go. Delivery was one of the options, and mentioned nothing about it being through a third party. To our surprise, it wasn't Perkins delivering. It was Door Dash, who in my opinion, takes a while and doesn't have the best service out of all of the delivery apps out there today. I was slightly disappointed, and the driver even texted me to say, "The restaurant doesn't give me the tip you left on the website. You have to tip me through the Door Dash app. It's appreciated." I was a little put off by that. Making a login for ordering Perkins online was worth it. I immediately got a coupon emailed for buy 1 entre get 1 free, & was able to use it on my 1st purchase. Then, I was immediately got ANOTHER coupon for 20% off! Their loyalty program is well worth the time to create & will save you a lot of money right away! It finally came after about 40 minutes. It was pretty cold, not as fresh, & there were several upcharges along with 2 tips that I feel I was tricked into paying. A Coke, about 1/2 the size of a medium at McDonalds, are almost $4. I ordered the same thing: blueberry muffin french toast, but this time with the combo: cheesy scrambled eggs and 2 sausage links. There was a $1 upcharge for cheese! My partner got the Boston crème pie pancakes- but they forgot the chocolate icing- basically the main ingredients to make them "Boston crème pie pancakes"! Since it was delivery, we couldn't exactly fix it, especially since it was Door Dash delivering it (again: they made no mention of that until I placed the order). She was disappointed. I guess I was wrong for talking it up so much.
Overall, it's an affordable, family style diner that has a great breakfast menu and pretty good service from the waiters if you dine in. I definitely recommend it, but next time, I will steer clear of delivery. I'll stick with dining in or picking up my order. Hopefully either option will allow me to use the coupons...
Read moreWorst experience ever. Let me start by saying that, I decided to stop using Uber eats because I was tired of all the missed notes and wrong items. I went to the Perkins website to order directly through them and was very pleased with the options that Uber doesn't offer and the price because Uber charges an extra crazy amount on top of the menus price. My order was "supposed" to be ready in less than half an hour. I live 5 minutes away from the location. I showed up a couple minutes early and showed them my phone with my paid order and gave them my name. I was told, "just a couple more minutes". After 5 minutes, my supposed order comes out. I read the receipt on the bag and nothing on it resembled anything that I had ordered. The receipt had the name James on it, but it was for an Uber driver. So after already waiting 35 minutes for my order to be ready, I am told that they never received my order. From then they had to take my actual phone and take the order from my phone into their system. To me that is pretty unprofessional. Not only that, the manager who I am going to call Chief, was polite but very unaccommodating for the situation. Finally after putting my food order in, I still waited another 20 minutes or so until I finally received it. When I did receive it I was told to go and check it and make sure that everything was right. I did and of course it was not right. Order notes were missed and sides were also missed. For the experience that I have dealt with with Perkins for my entire life, this is by far the worst and at this point have no faith left in restaurants. Instead of offering something to accommodate for your mishap, it is my time that has been wasted for no reason. I will not be returning or ordering from Perkins...
Read moreI was very disappointed with the service today the worst experience from start to finish. Our server(Jason) needs to learn to have better customer service and how to be friendly and serviceable. Rude from beginning to end, did not give us our utensils until right before our food came and two of us ordered coffee so we had to literally swirl our creamer and sugar with my cousins straw that she was given for her drink. Once the food was received which the food was pretty good, we were never asked if we got everything we needed, I was missing my pancakes and asked him about it and again he seemed bothered. Once he brought the pancakes he never came back to ask if everything was okay if we needed extra napkins and so forth. We had to ask a lady waitress for extra napkins we had a toddler with us. We saw him go to other tables completely different demeanor and I really hate to say it, I think it’s because we were minorities and the other tables were not. When my mother politely asked for our Utensils he literally said with the worst attitude ever, I am working on it now. I have never felt so awful as a paying customer ever. Needless to say, we are not coming back here with our loved ones...
