Overall I still do recommend this hotel. I understand that my issues fall under the "First World Problems" category. However, for what was paid for the room, I do expect better. I have had similar quality for 70% of the price in the past.
Check-in was efficient.
I was not recognized as a Platinum guest and was not asked if I wanted extra points or a market item. We got a ground-floor room which is appreciated and it was the King with sofa bed as ordered.
One of our two remote controls were not operational. The front desk gave me the lounge remote saying they all are universal for all TVs. I quickly returned it and decided to use one remote for both TVs as it was unfair to have the lounge TV without a remote. I happened to see the maintenance gentleman in the a.m. and he had my remote working in less than three minutes. Very nice man.
Why does your hotel not keep additional remotes?
Extra towels were provided but only two additional bath towels. I do not understand why three extra bath towels cannot be given when three guests are using the room. I have never stolen a towel and still find the bath towel allotment stingy when extra towels are given at all.
I went and got another towel from the front desk as well as some additional shampoo and complimentary toothbrushes/toothpaste so all was well.
Housekeeping was disappointing. The housekeeping did not replace the towels that we used and I had to go back to the front desk to get more towels to replace the ones we left on the floor. Housekeeping also did not replace the shampoo and conditioner we used so I had to go to the front desk for these as well.
We requested a late checkout as platinum members. At 9 a.m. on the day we were supposed to check out, housekeeping woke us up. I will remember to put the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door from now on as there was obviously no coordination regarding our late check out request. We could not go back to sleep and left before regular check out.
The apology from the front desk when we checked out was so insincere that I wish they would have just been honest and stated that they did not care.
Breakfast was good the first day. There was no oatmeal the second day.
The room was extremely clean. The property is secure.
I will probably return although I may also try the Hampton Inn nearby if the rate there is lower for a comparable room. I do not expect the Hampton Inn to be much better so it is really about the rate for a...
Read moreWe only live about two hours from Asheboro, we chose the Marriot Fairfield from reviews, and booked Friday night and took the family to the Zoo Saturday morning:
The hotel from the outside is neat and clean and the ladies at the front desk were absolute customer service experts. They were so friendly, smiling the entire time, multi-tasking by taking care of the needs of the customers, the phones, walk ups etc. Never once did I see them pause or seem like they were overwhelmed. Absolute class in those folks at the desk. As a matter of fact we were walking to our room (104) and passed a couple of the cleaning staff and to a person they were so nice and "Good afternoon" and "How are you today" Customer service A+ entire stay
Rooms:
The room was neat and clean ! Beautifully arranged. We were late in getting our room booked, so we had to settle on the room with double beds... There were me and my wife and two children. I am 6'4 and had to share one of the beds but it was a wee bit too small for both of us, however it took zero enjoyment away from our stay. The room was comfortable, clean, great channel choices on the TV plenty of outlets for all the "technology: we brought. The AC worked great and keep the room nice and cool for our one night stay. We went out to the pool Friday evening and it was a little small for large crowds however it was very clean, the temperature was perfect and my kids and family had an absolute ball playing in the pool. It was very clean and the staff kept the blue towels stocked for everyone
Saturday morning we awoke to take part in the breakfast, plenty of choices and I had sausage and eggs. Man Ill tell you that apple juice in the automated machine was OUT OF THIS WORLD good.... I wanted to fill my YETI up with this heavenly juice. ha ha
The hotel was great, the staff was wonderful and it was a great experience albeit for one night, It was close to everything one would need, walmart, eating establishments etc. We will absolutely stay here again on our next Zoo trip, and I would highly recommend this locale to anyone...
Thanks for a memorable night for the family. We appreciate the hospitality

Read moreFirst time going up to Asheboro to visit the zoo. I spent a while trying to pick a hotel. I was between the Marriott and the Holiday Inn next door. I decided to spend a little extra money thinking the Marriott would hold to it's name. Unfortunately, I don't recommend this hotel. It has the look of getting bought out by Marriott. The hotel does not look updated in my opinion. It's carpets look old, and has an odor. The room we had smelled like cat urine. The shower head was broken, and took a while to get any warm water. The bath towels had long white hair on them probably from who did the laundry or cleaned the room. Particularly, I picked the hotel because of the amenities including the indoor pool, and gym since my routine is to workout. The gym is nothing special. One elliptical, one treadmill, and a couple of weights. Only one person is allowed in the small room at time. You have to get the key from desk like your a cheap gas station bathroom. The worst part was the treadmill didn't work. It was broken and clearly nobody had tried or cared to fix it very disappointing. Furthermore, no way to clean the machine after, and nobody cared to have it wiped or cleaned after the previous lady that used it was in there or before letting me in. I think the health department might not approve of that standard. Finally, when their rule is only one person is allowed at a time they allowed someone else in the tiny confined room which he couldn't get the treadmill to work and just ended up leaving. I asked about the pool they said it was down for updating. The pool looked updated from the window. I am not sure what was going on. When I asked what I could do she said I could drive next door; that the Holiday Inn and their hotel had an agreement to share the pool. If I had know that I would of paid less and gotten a better hotel. The ladies up front were nice, and the breakfast was delicious, other then that it was absolutely a terrible experience especially for a hotel carrying the Marriott name. I don't recommend anyone use this hotel until they make improvements. Use the holiday inn apparently they are already do. The zoo was...
