Coming from an urban area in southern California, I did not expect to experience the amount of trash, graffiti and the unbearable smell of urine in a small city in the Appalachians. While this was not everywhere, it was present enough to make the experience less than hoped for. I guess my expectations were influence by visiting the smaller towns in this region.
