Read moreFarm Burger cured my mental health.
I walked into Farm Burger with the emotional stability of a raccoon in a Dollar General. I didn’t go in expecting to be rear-ended at 90 mph by joy; I just wanted lunch.
I approached the register eyeing the menu—is it really just $0.50 for half your burger to be made out of bacon? I ordered the farm burger with tears welling in my eyes.
I sat at the table, eagerly waiting for my burger…and then I saw it. Between the waitress’s hands was a basket containing my burger, dripping with what some may call grease. It was pure dopamine. These aren’t burger staff; they’re burger therapists.
I clutched the basket like it was a sacred relic. The burger looked me in the eye and said, “it’s all going to be okay.” I took a bite and it rushed through my veins. The beef was so juicy I almost wept. Not tears of sadness. Tears of release. Tears of clarity. My brain rebooted and I spoke fluent beef. Suddenly, and quite unexpectedly, I felt seen. I felt safe. This burger is the kind of healing Freud wished he could bottle.
With cheddar dripping from my wrists, I felt my credit score rising and my taxes filing themselves. The caramelized onions whispered sweet notions of hope for the future. I felt the years of stress melt away like American cheese under a heat lamp of truth. At Farm Burger, cows DREAM of being sandwiches.
By the end of the meal, I was lighter. Not physically—I inhaled an entire farm’s worth of calories—but mentally, emotionally, and intellectually lighter. I left Farm Burger a better person, calmer, wiser, and beefier. I sat with burger juice dripping from my chin, staring blankly. Suddenly I had peace after years of trauma and was grateful for stretchy pants.
Farm Burger didn’t just feed me, they fixed me. And they can...
Read moreSo, I absolutely love their trademark Farm Burger. I remember the first time I had it, maybe 8-ish years ago. Phenomenal. I live in Knoxville and have driven 2 hours multiple times with the sole intention of eating that burger. I’ve never really had an issue with the staff, themselves.
But the last two times I’ve visited, I’ve had a negative experience. I get it, you’re busy 24/7. It’s hard to keep up. I’ve worked in the food industry for close to 10 years and I know it’s utter chaos when you’re swamped (like it was last night)
I didn’t leave a review the first time bc I didn’t want to bother anyone over a charred burger, and So, I understand how it happens and it’s no big. But this time it’s kinda serious.
I recently developed a tomato allergy. It’s an odd one to have, but it can send me to the hospital. I called and informed the woman who took my order of this. She reassured me that there wouldn’t be tomatoes on anything.
After I picked up my food, I drove two hours back home (kept it hot), went to eat the little side salad I ordered and right on top: the that sends me into anaphylactic shock. I’m glad they don’t serve ketchup or tomatoes on their burgers bc I didn’t even check. My allergy wasn’t even listed on the ticket.
This is basic food safety. If anyone mentions ANY kind of allergy, it goes on the ticket. Even latex. It doesn’t matter how busy you get, you absolutely have to listen and pay attention to the guests when they order. This is not on BOH, they’re great at what they do and I gotta represent. 🤘
I’ll definitely be back though, those burgers are like crack. I’m only leaving a one star review bc I know you check these more thoroughly. Just next time write...
