My partner and I stayed at Shrew's B&B over Labor Day weekend. We were in the Ashland room, which was clean and had a comfortable bed. The room is next to the parking area and backs up to the alley and locals who may be walking outside the property. The door to this room is not inside the gated are entry to the property. So it is not secure in that way. On our first day, while sitting with our feet in the pool and visiting with other guests (couple) a strange woman who was clearly mentally ill entered the property from the alley and began harassing us. This occurred approximately 4-5 times and proceeded to throw items at us while in an increasingly agitated state. We informed the temporary hostess (who is not on site)and she arrived shortly after and contacted the police. It was unsettling to have our room totally accessible after an episode like this from someone who apparently lived directly across from the Ashland room. Also, there was never any hot water in the Ashland room, so we could not take showers. The water was barely warm on the first night and that was the last of it. The breakfast was adequate. Coffee and pastries, yogurt and fruit, but not extraordinary. Communication to the host was difficult, as they were out of town, and the intermediary who was near by, tried, but real support was difficult to achieve for the issues we faced. I texted the temporary hostess our concerns and also the main host - Bruce who returned to the Shrew's House the day after we check-out. No response from Bruce at all about these experiences. As a 9 year AirBnB Super hostess I am shocked at this level of disregard from the main host and zero acknowledgement to make anything right...
Read moreOur group couldn't believe our luck when we discovered this perfect B & B. We have been coming to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for more than 25 years and have stayed in many places in Ashland, but the Shrew's House, under Bruce Hall's management, is head and shoulders above all the other places to stay. Bruce is a delight and did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. My wife and I stayed in the Garden Room, which we found to be immaculate, spacious, well-decorated, and comfortable. Rooms have a microwave and small refrigerator which is makes it convenient to prepare a light dinner before a show. We and the other couples in our group enjoyed sitting outside having our meals together, chatting, and enjoying the Shrew's House's lovely plantings. Best of all, the B & B is an easy walk to the theaters so we didn't have to worry about finding parking before the shows. If you usually stay in a B & B, don't miss staying at the...
Read moreEverything about this place was amazing, and the service was incredible. Although the couple who ran Shrew's House had not planned on serving breakfast Tuesday or Wednesday mornings (and this was made clear on their website), they offered to serve it anyway when they noticed my mom's disappointment. The food was excellent, and we had some very nice breakfast conversations. They were also very helpful in offering us rain ponchos and extra towels, and in short, did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Other highlights:
Roger the Cat, who I found waiting outside our rooms when I woke up, and who is not shy… AT ALL.
The beautiful gardens. Although it was raining for much of our trip, they were still beautiful and full of flowers.
There is a supermarket and a coffee shop right across the street.
I loved this place and would...
