Where do I start...if you want to be spoiled stay at this inn, but you will miss it when you leave!!
My daughter moved to Ashland over a year ago and after her repeated requests I decided to finally visit her. I was lucky to find availability and stayed at the Chanticleer inn for five nights, which was the most delightful lodging experience I had. Beautiful craftsman bungalow, tastefully decorated to feel like home, every morning at 7am, the aroma of the coffee is so heavily, and at 9am you are treated to an amazing gourmet breakfast, and a wonderful conversation with the beautiful and charismatic Angela the host. These breakfasts were the best meals I had in Ashland, in fact in turned out that the Chanticleer inn gourmet breakfast was well known in town. I had a room over looking the garden furnished and decorated with warmth and your comfort in mind, and with lots of style. The room was so quiet and the bed was so comfortable that I had scored 92 on my fit bit tracker which was the highest that I have ever seen. My room was over looking the charming garden with many quaint seating areas. The neighborhood is beautiful, I walked every morning before breakfast. Some days I also walked to the beautiful nature and creek at Lithia park, which is not that far from the inn. Down town Ashland is down the street from the inn, a very beautiful and cozy village, make sure to allow time to visit and enjoy it. I have beautiful memories of my visit to Ashland, and Angela, and her chaticleer, surely made my...
Read moreWe've been staying at The Chanticleer for many years during our annual OSF theatre immersions. It is a lovely historic Arts & Crafts home within walking distance of the theaters and restaurants. In the two years' Covid-related OSF hiatus, the place changed hands, so we were curious to see how it had fared once the theater opened back up for business. We were thrilled to find that it continues to be a wonderful sanctuary under innkeeper Angela's artistic and capable hands. The house itself has been updated with vibrant paint colors and decor, fun artistic touches, an expanded patio/pond area, a meditation labyrinth and yoga platform. There are so many quiet, restful places to just read and relax, or hang out for a bit of wine and chat with friends after an evening play (hello porch swing!). Our room and bed were so comfortable, we slept very well indeed.
Angela's gourmet breakfasts are outstanding and beautifully presented, offering healthy fare and fresh produce, herbs, interesting flavors. (The Mexican brown rice pudding with mango coconut cream & peppered jelly, and the walnut bread were my personal favorites.) There are always afternoon treats available, and refreshing fruit-infused water. Angela herself is the "hostess with the most-est," making sure everyone was comfortable with a smile and positive energy, even during these challenging times when everyone is short-staffed. (Really, she's the kind of person you wish was your next-door neighbor!)
We are looking forward to more visits in...
Read moreWarm, cozy and delicious B & B in Ashland. My husband, dog and I stayed here for two nights on our way down from the Oregon Coast back down to our home in southern California and I'm so happy we cozied up at the Chanticleer. We stayed in the Garden Room, which has its own outdoor entrance (also an indoor entrance) overlooking the garden and is very spacious (big king bed, desk, little living room space with a coffee table and loveseat, fully stocked bathroom). The bed was very comfortable, the fireplace was a wonderful touch while it was cold and rainy outside. The innkeeper Dean was kind, accommodating and helpful and he cooked a DELICIOUS breakfast, which changed each morning and was wonderful each time. The location was within walking distance of the downtown area and many restaurants and things to do. The B & B grounds seem like they would be gorgeous to enjoy if the weather was a little warmer and not raining, so we definitely need to come back! Such a lovely and cute dog-friendly B & B (our pup loved it!) that I...
