Blue India — Restaurant in Atlanta

Tonight is not the first night that I have dined with Blue India. I live in Florida and when I come here with friends I cannot wait to share with them what my cousin shared with me in this amazing restaurant. I had a friend with me this time that is not used to Indian food. It was so much fun to have her enjoy this food with me. Jackson made sure our order was just right and we were able to watch the chefs prepare the food in the tandoori clay ovens. I am a detail person and when I love a restaurant it is usually because they get points on every detail. Tonight was no different. We had an amazing server who also cooks on other nights. He explained to us that they were having issues with their air-conditioner and asked if we still wanted to stay, and frankly we did not notice. He answered every question and helped us get the best order for two people wanting to taste as much as we could without wasting food. Jackson also made sure that our dishes were not too spicy for us. We had samosas, the mixed grill, the okra curry and peshwari naan. The spices in everything was amazingly balanced and the grilled meats wear tender and juicy! We loved every morsel. One thing I always notice is how the staff behaves and every time I have been in this establishment the staff looks like they are having a blast. Because you can see into the kitchen you can tell that employees are happy here. That makes coming here so pleasant. After exploring almost all Indian Restaurants in Alpharetta, we landed up here in Atlanta Downtown. We picked this up just because of ratings but we were still little concerned about price vs quality. 1st thing, there is a public parking lot just behind the restaurant and you can get a 1hour free parking sticker with the restaurant while leaving. The ambience is very nice and upscale. Seating arrangement was good. It was a Wednesday night and we made our reservation in advance. After reaching the restaurant, we realized it was a good decision to reserve it in advance. The place was almost full except the table reserved for us. The server was assigned to us within 5mins of getting settled. The menu was little expensive compared to places in Alpharetta but considering a downtown restaurant it was worth for it. Overall service was fast and server was very humble. Food quality and quantity was good and i believe for average appetite person 3 gravy will go for 6 people. We loved the presentation of the food. Each dish had its own classic plating. Coming to the dessert part, their Brownie with Ice-cream was amazing. Although, being a Brownie fan, i felt that the brownie could be improved. Quality and service has depleted beyond belief. Review from a long time customer.

Where do I start? They kept bringing our orders to the table next to us and vice versa. At one point they got garlic naan and had to leave it at the next table because the customer had touched it. And we waited a while for the bread while our entrees sat on the table getting cold. Most importantly, the dishes we ordered in medium spice level (the same exact dishes and spice levels we always order) were SPICY. So much so that I could not consume them. I ended up asking them to fix one of them. And then we waited (yet again). I found the server and his explanation amateurish - he told us that their head chef had an emergency and was in India. A typical line of response from an Indian establishment - to give excuses for poor quality. To top it all of, I ended up having a chat with the manager about this horrendous experience a couple of days later. This person (Ganesh) confirmed that his head chef is in their kitchen, not in India. And then his focus was on figuring out who this server was. Mind blown! He also did absolutely nothing to make up for this nightmarish night. In fact, he told me that I should have asked for him that night instead of waiting for a couple of days.
