Stayed here for sdsu graduation weekend for three nights. Made reservations for a pet friendly room as I travel with my three little dogs and received email confirmation of that request, confirmed again before arrival, and upon checking in confirmed that I reserved a pet friendly room again for me and my little dogs and one other person and it was confirmed again I had a pet friendly room. The second morning I was there I received a call from the desk clerk who was rude and accusing me of having five or six dogs in the room and he acted like I never told them I had dogs staying with me. Then he proceeded to tell me I will be charged $10 per night per dog per bed above the normal pet fee. He then sent someone to my room not long after that under the pretens e of asking me if I'm staying another night when I had the original reservation that included another night and it was extremely odd behavior and very obvious what he was doing. He was checking up on me and my dogs which was totally uncalled for as I had not caused any issues the entire stay and neither had my dogs. I'm an extremely quiet person and I like my environment the same. I've never had any hotel act like this to me or my dogs before nor add inflated charges like they did and I take my dogs with me all the time with no issues as I said. I am a responsible pet owner and my dogs are very clean and freshly groomed when staying in a hotel, well mannered, non- destructive, and house broken. The room most definitely was a pet friendly room as I picked up large pieces of dog food off the carpet when I first got there that was left by previous guests to keep it away from my dogs who eat a special diet. The room also was not very clean as I found other items left on the floor besides the dog food and the carpets really needed to be shampooed as they left my socks black. The faucets were loose, outdated and grimy looking. The lighting is very poor. The microwave and refrigerator are slid to the very back of the cabinet making them hard to use. The continental breakfast is so bad don't waste your time on it. The beds are so high I had to use a chair to get in bed and I'm 5'9 and the pillows are not full sized. Then there is the rude front desk person. I have stayed here before, last time a couple years ago, and I was always treated well by a friendly staff and there was never an issue with my dogs being there. This place is apparently not pet friendly anymore and needs improvements, better cleaning practices, and most of all a better staff attitude towards guests. It was impossible to get a room elsewhere upon noticing all this due to graduation weekend. It's also apparent that they do not do an extra cleaning or more thorough cleaning in pet friendly rooms that they charge fees for. The management has gone down hill in...
Read moreI remember going here for a class trip that included history. As it turned out the day also just so happened to be my birthday. So my Grandma made me cupcakes to give out to the class. But there was too much so I decided to give them out to anyone who opened the door when I knocked. The first encounter went like this, "Hi, sir would you like a cupcake." "Sure, but does it have gluten?" "Yes it does." I responded. I thought maybe he has a gluten allergy like me dad so I didn't think much of it until he said, "I can't have any gluten did you know gluten causes autism?" Now that took me aback considering I have it my self. I though who is this person who thinks autism is caused by gluten? He closed the door and I was just of shocked, so I went to other doors to see if they wanted any. Now this might have been my fault but there is more to this story. After the class met up and we were told to go to our rooms. He walks out and hands me a paper telling me these are the sources to prove it. I said, "Thanks sir." But shortly after he left I gave it to a friend telling him, "You know I wouldn't believe in any of that if I were you." "Well the sources aren't even real I think." "Good" Fast forward to the next morning. I am eating breakfast when the same guy comes to me and says. "Do you want to join me in my operation of trying to free the aliens from the government?" I was shocked for the second time. "Huh?" "Ya, you didn't know? The government tracks us all when we go to hospitals. They put small GPS trackers in our ear lobes when they put us under. They also hide the aliens in their basement. So I'm here with my friend to try to free them." I just decided to walk away but before I overheard him tell another guy that he knows a person with autism, adhd, add, aids, down syndrome, etc. I don't remember I just left and saw him put up 8 FINGERS like how is this guy alive with 8 MENTAL DISORDERS? He then talked to my friend from last night and taught him how to defeat 8 people in combat. I left at this point but hear my friend talking about it. Overall the stay was nice, and the people were interesting not to say the less. But I never thought that I would be invited to join some reverse MIB type of conspiracy. My family and I still get a laugh every time I mention it. 7/10...
Read moreTell me why I woke up at 1am to staff entering my room? That should be all I need to say, but I'll say more. I wake up at 1am to staff entering my room (mind you, without knocking) and telling us that we "weren't in the system". Tell me how this works seeing as everything had already been charged to the credit card, we had been checked in, and given room keys!! After we graciously sent them away with the knowledge that we did, in fact, check in, we were woken up again several minutes later to knocking and relentless phone calls to the room phone. One of us answered the door and one of us got the phone. After an unnecessarily complicated reasoning with the front desk attendants at ungodly hours of the night, they finally left us alone... Super 8 Brookings, this is not good for your customers' safety nor your employees' safety. They were lucky that it was us in that room. I don't want to imagine how it may have gone down with someone else's room being broken into at 1am. Especially if there were children to protect or just the innate reaction to defend yourself and the people residing. Still haven't heard back from any managers or owners which is very disturbing because this is a true issue of safety, privacy, and integrity as an...
