The front staff is excellent. Really kind and helpful. But they are limited by the hotel.
Everything seemed broken. My AC unit (Which was set at high fan, 60 degrees and constant fan) decided at 3am to reset itself to nothing. I woke up covered in sweat. Nothing makes hunting more fun than poor sleep and feeling ill…..
The bathrooms are terrible. Mine has literally all the wallpaper peeling. Not like a little, but more than 2 inches along the seams. It looks terrible.
The cleaning was terrible. My room and my cousins room both had dirty towels on the ‘office chair’ AFTER the cleaning after the second night… like how do you leave towels in the guest room on a chair when we left them in the bathroom? You already did less than 4 years ago by cleaning after the second night, doing a terrible job of it makes it embarrassing.
The rooms have mold or something. I had a great day with no congestion and each morning I have woken up congested. This doesn't happen to me any other time, so is got to be the room. And seeing how the wallpaper has peeled hard in the bathroom, it's not a leap to connect the dots to mold in the room. My cousin, in another room, had the issue with waking up congested but not having a history of congestion. He also thinks it has to be mold or something in the room.
The Holiday Inn next door is better and while I haven't stayed at the Country Inn next door, I can only assume it's also...
Read moreMisty, Marcy, and all the staff I encountered were phenomenal. Stayed here for a video project covering different hotel brands and their respective brand standards. I had not stayed at a Hilton property before, and I am quite impressed by everything I saw. Room was spotless and quite spacious I may add. While I was there to highlight some of their property’s amenities and features, I did pay for a room with my own money, and it was well worthwhile. Complimentary hot breakfast is on par with upscale hotels - Hyatt comes to mind- for selection and quality. Keep in mind, that this is an upper midscale hotel brand offering a similar hot complimentary breakfast to what a higher tier brand will offer their guests; what we have here is an incredible value for guests staying at this Hampton property in Brookings. Marcy did an awesome job running the kitchen and keeping everything stocked and clean. And the coffee, omg the coffee….100% arabica dark roast as an option. I did try the in room coffee and was also impressed, so much so that I drank two cups. Great work, Hampton Team! I will...
Read moreThis is a nice hotel right off of Interstate 29. The university, grocery stores, and downtown are within an easy drive. Check-in was pleasant and fast. The two elevators were in working order and moved at a reasonable speed between the four floors. We had a king suite on the second floor. We entered into a kitchenette with a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. We only used the fridge; the tiny freezer barely fit our cooler ice packs. The living room and bedroom are spacious, with the TV centered between them. The bathroom counter area was nice, but the toilet and bath/shower room was cramped. The tub had wall units with shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Everything worked as it should. No issues with noise from the hallway, other rooms, or the highway.
Breakfast was included with the room. Sunday morning, it was served from 6-10am and offered standard continental breakfast fare. There was a lot of seating. Our checkout soon after was quick. I would be fine with staying here if we came through Brookings...
