La Cantina — Restaurant in Aurora Township

Worst dining experience we have ever had. We were ready to ask for the bill for our drinks and leave. When we first walked in, there was no one there to seat us. We waited about 5 min before someone came to take us to our table. We had a party of 6. They brought us to the way back by a party of 20, who were loud, rude, and obnoxious and obviously didn't know the difference between a restaurant and a bar. I completely understand that this is not the establishments fault. However, when the servers are joining in on the loud chanting and encouraging them, it becomes hard to look past. I had 3 kids with me who were begging my husband and I to just leave because they were getting so overwhelmed. We then waited about 30 min before someone came and took our food order on top of another 45 min before our food came out. All while only being checked on once.

To top it all off, the food was nothing to brag about. My kids are not picky eaters at all, but they only thing that was eaten was the 2 cheeseburgers. (Street tacos got a good review from the husband 😉).

Worst experience of my life! Very busy due to SD/ND football game last night which I understand. Management did not plan well, entire staff was overwhelmed! Waiter barely spoke English, Margaritas had sugar on the rim not salt?? Waited 1hr 15 min for food! We complained of course and waiter apologized but it was terrible! My Sisters shrimp Tacos were OK but not great. I ordered a "special steak combo" with shrimp, cheese, and and topped with a blooming onion. It was so overcooked that much of it was charred and stuck to the plate. May have sat in the oven all that time. Even the tortillas were burned and stuck together! Blooming onion was 1/2 cooked. This meal was $19.00 and inedible, two bites of tough steak, and one burned shrimp later we left. Went to pay and stated the service and meal were terrible, the man at front desk laughed. No discount or formal apology was offered so I paid the $54.00 tab but did not leave a tip, I usually tip 20%. Obviously we will not be returning and will not recommend...

Salsa was WAY too sweet. We added Valentina, salt (both on the table), and lime, (had to request), and then it was good. My margarita came with pineapple and grapefruit on the rim - both of which I’m allergic to and would have stated if I knew they came one a lime margarita. My enchilada did not come with enchilada sauce, just cheese which was a little bit of a let down. Hubby LOVED the rice, so much - he was stealing it from my plate while I wrote this. I did get a number 6 with steak/fajitas meat and it was really good! No fat at all! Hubby ordered a chicken chimichanga, he said it was really good!!! The margarita was great! Chips were fresh! All in all was pretty decent and tasty with good service. Only giving 4 stars due to the last two times being here it wasn’t that great. But it has been a while and we decided to give another try.
