Maybe its because Im an Electrician that I notice this stuff. The appearance of the hotel is consistent themes across the building, nice fixtures. Hotel lighting choices honestly confuse me, it's dark everywhere in the hotel, despite a decent aragnement of lights.
I think the entire building could benifit from LED upgrades, but the fixtures are nice. I spent much of my time in the lobby which was quiet for the most part, and quite comfortable. The couch I sat on had integrated receptacles, with USB ports for charging... too bad that wasnt pluggeed in. :( I was able to use my screw driver to get into a working recepticle in the floor, and use my computer to charge my phone. Most of the lamps I saw had integrated receptacles which is nice. A finer nuance was that the light from the bathroom shines out on the door when its ajar. a full length wall mirror on the opposite wall of the hallway reflects that light right into your eyes if you sleep on the fold out couch. What is really interesting, is that there is a diffusing sticker on the mirror to prevent this glare, but it only works if youre sleeping in the beds. Used my laptop as a bathroom light, problem solved. The ice machine down the hall was pretty noisy, and the door for the room it is in, wouldnt close all the way. the rooms were nice and clean. The wooden stir stick in the complementary was a nice touch, and the citrus scented soap was also pleasing. TV and internet worked great for me.
The staffers were fine, one chick came by and acted dumbfounded that I might want the TV off while reading, turning it back on, despite my requests to have it off, and having absolutely no one else in the lobby. ??? The location is central to most conveniences, if you have a car. I saw some kids come and try to buy a drink that costs about 1.50$ at any local gas station. The drink cost was 5.50$ (or something like that) The kids balked, and left. I'm so proud of those kids, but still the price is quite unfair. I can just drive to the store and buy my corporate vittles, but those kids are stuck with jacked prices.
The pool is small, there is no hot tub, there is a room with exercise equipment. I saw no one in there at any point. (Future pool/ hot tub expansion space? )
Scenic vistas include an abandoned lab warehouse.
The room had no microwave, the electric kettle I brought from home was a life saver. There is a wire frame decor choice I saw across the hotel. I thought it was cool, but I could also see where wire frames aren't particularly inviting, or comfortable. There was a cute blonde lass that was cheery and friendly, and made me feel welcome. Some of the other staff made me feel like a homeless person they were too gracious to remove. I don't want anything, just to be left alone in a quite, comfortable place, with good lighting, where I can read. Don't dim the lights on me, its dark enough...
Read moreMy experience at the Courtyard by Marriott in Bangor, Maine was average, resulting in a three-star rating. While the hotel offered some positive aspects, there were also areas where improvements could be made.
One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel's convenient location. The Courtyard by Marriott is situated in a prime area, providing easy access to nearby attractions and amenities. Its proximity to downtown Bangor and the airport made it a convenient choice for travelers. Additionally, the hotel's parking facilities were adequate and hassle-free.
The rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott were comfortable and clean, offering a pleasant environment for a good night's sleep. The bedding and furnishings were of decent quality, and the housekeeping staff maintained cleanliness throughout my stay. The in-room amenities provided the basic necessities for a comfortable stay.
However, there were certain aspects that left room for improvement. The overall ambiance and decor of the hotel were somewhat dated and lacked the modern sophistication expected from a Marriott property. An upgrade to the interior design and common areas could greatly enhance the guest experience and create a more inviting atmosphere.
The customer service at the hotel was satisfactory but lacked the personalized touch that can make a stay memorable. While the staff was generally polite and professional, there were instances where responsiveness and attentiveness fell short. A more proactive and guest-focused approach from the staff would have elevated the overall experience.
The dining options at the hotel were limited, with only a basic breakfast available. While the quality of the food served was decent, more variety and options for other meals would have been appreciated. Additionally, the on-site amenities, such as fitness facilities or recreational spaces, were limited or nonexistent, which could be disappointing for guests seeking additional amenities during their stay.
In terms of value for money, the Courtyard by Marriott in Bangor, Maine was reasonably priced for the quality and amenities provided. However, considering the room rates, some guests may expect more in terms of amenities and overall experience.
In conclusion, my experience at the Courtyard by Marriott in Bangor, Maine was average. While the convenient location, comfortable rooms, and reasonable pricing were positive aspects, improvements in the hotel's ambiance, customer service, dining options, and amenities would greatly enhance the guest experience. With some refinements, the Courtyard by Marriott has the potential to provide a more memorable and satisfying stay...
Read morewhen we first checked in, GINA WAS AN ABSOLUTE DELIGHT TO TALK TO! Sge was courteous, kind and VERY PROFESSIONAL!! she was fast giving us our key as we were exhausted from an event, I went right up to her rooms. The room was exceptional. I was just so pleased and got right into bed and very comfortable. The TV being able to pull it out to watch it, was great. that evening my husband went downstairs around 6:30 at night, and asked if the bistro was open. there is happy hour from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The young man who was working the desk was extremely extremely rude. he treated my husband like he was some type of poor commoner. giving him a look up and down with this very arrogant and Hi and mighty attitude. and just looks at him and says "obviously not it would be open right?" and just kind of scoffed at him and my husband said okay. we were told that it would be open for dinner or to get a bite to eat if we needed it. that was the only bad experience that we actually had except for when we woke up in the morning, we were under the impression it would be a free breakfast but maybe we were misinformed. I went to order a coffee from the supposed "Starbucks", that was there. and I can absolutely tell you right now that that is not Starbucks coffee. I don't care what the sign says, I drink Starbucks every day of my life at least 10 times a day, and that was the worst caramel latte I think I've ever had in my entire life. My husband said the same thing about his mocha latte. it definitely could not have been Starbucks coffee because it just tasted like cheap imitation coffee. The young lady though making the coffee was very nice and polite. I was really disappointed however that the only way of payment was by a card or by room charge. which is kind of an inconvenience for some people. Glad I had my credit card with me. cuz my husband was upstairs check out was a breeze in Gina once again was there to greet us as we were leaving. I highly recommend to this manager of this branch of courtyard Marriott, TO GIVE GINA A RAISE. PROMOTE HER. SHE IS AN EXCEPTIONAL PART OF YOUR TEAM AND SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED AS SUCH. AS FAR AS THAT YOUNG GENTLEMAN GOES, HE DEFINITELY SHOULD BE REPRIMANDED FOR HIS BEHAVIOR THE WHOLE FLAMBOYANT I'M A DIVA ATTITUDE, DOES NOT WORK IN A TYPE OF ENVIRONMENT LIKE THIS. VERY DISAPPOINTING AND VERY DISTURBED BY HIS BEHAVIOR.
but overall, I would highly recommend this courtyard, to have anyone stay out if they're in the Bangor area. such beautiful rooms and exceptional...
