Hot Topic — Local services in Bangor

I did not have a good experience!

I did not catch the name of the older gentleman working the register during my poor check out experience, but he was incredibly rude. He asked me if I would like to sign up for the Hot Topic rewards program at checkout, which I kindly declined, but he clearly did not like this answer and was aggressive/pushy. He first told me how much money I would be losing by not signing up ($1.70) and how there is no credit card attached. After I declined again, he became even more aggressive on how it helps him as an employee, and how I only need my email and name. He then called to another customer (i’m guessing a person he knows) and said he could have the points i’m missing out on, then repeatedly told me how much money this guy was now saving instead of me.

I have worked retail and understand how frustrating rewards programs can be, and how it benefits you as the employee when you get a new person to sign up. That being said, I know how to NOT go about this rejection. If the employee that was manning the register is reading this I also want you to know I will not only NEVER be signing up for a Hot Topic membership, but I will not be shopping at Hot...

The selection at this hot topic is amazing!! The one problem I had was that when I tried to call no one answered, I called 5 times... That is definitely keeping them from a 5 star rating at least for me! Besides this minor bump the selection was awesome, there are popular brands like Star Wars, Minecraft, Five Nights At Freddy's, and of course Funko POPs!! I am a minor collector of pop figures... And I have to say their "wall" of figures is great, the prices are a little high for a cheaply made pullover it's about $50!! Besides that hot topic is amazing!! Love shopping here but the employees were so insufferable I regretted even going and spending money. Went for a couple band tshirts and was followed the entire time, employee stood next to us for over 20 minutes while I picked out shirts and wouldn’t give my husband and I space to shop while hovering and listening to our conversation as he pretended to mess around with items on the rack to be creepy & invasive.

Only reason I visited the store was because they wouldn’t ship an item online, definitely won’t be back otherwise.

Super cringey for a 35+ year old manager working in a dying mall to be harassing people...
