June 2017 Edit: Finally encountered the Ticket Checker (oft called Nazi but that's too extreme) and the way he spoke to my father, a man in his late 50s was rude and condescending when all my father received from the ticket stand was two receipts vs a receipt and his ticket. The situation was resolved quickly when a manager was called over who SIMPLY said my father was okay to go in upon showing his receipt. So beware when he's standing guard and always make sure to have your ticket, especially when leaving for a potty break mid-show. But avoid at all costs. It's very uncomfortable to be in that situation, even not directly. I hardly wish for people to be fired but the Ticket Taker has consistently acted like this for many years now with little to no change seen.
Overall, I prefer this theater to the 'cheap seats' on Odlin Road as it is continually a pleasant experience barring a few minor bumps that I can overlook. I especially love the rewards program which crosses over with the Drive-In during the warmer months (however, the Drive-In have soft pretzels listed at $10 which is ridiculous and worthless for the quality of the product).
The ticket prices are fair and reasonable, especially if one goes during the day and doesn't see a 3D show. Usually about $7 if I recall correctly.
The concessions are okay though I usually only ever get popcorn, but every time I've asked for a slice of pizza as promoted on their menus, they say they don't have pizza at the time so that's a little frustrating, especially when the hot dog is disgusting.
The theaters themselves are spacious, well maintained and have comfortable, adjustable seats, however, they do need to work on temperature control as it's consistently cold in the theater which is not good considering 1/3 of Maine's year is winter. Even in the summer time I've had to were a jacket because the a/c was...
Read moreI took my two oldest children to see Elio yesterday, ages 8 and 4. We had the unfortunate experience of being waited on by the wicked witch of the west. My four year old grabs a green novelty item on the concession counter and this woman snaps at my 4 year old and me saying "that's not for her to touch I need that back." We brushed it off, paid $67 for movie and tickets. People have bad days whatever no big deal. When purchasing tickets she says choose your seating, sit anywhere you would like to sit. After waiting for food we head to watch movie with a total of 7 people in the whole theater, we sit down and unload all our food and drinks. Another couple comes in and abruptly sits down in a seat right next to me. No big deal though odd seeing the theater has a total of 10 people now. The couple then say we are in there seats and would like the seats they paid for. Taken back by this and the fact that they just sat on my soda I said "this is something that you should bring up to the staff like a manager." After saying to the staff "what sense would this make for me to move 1 seat over for them just to sit in a seat covered in soda just for the sake of having the seats they paid for?" The staff guy was understanding and said he wasn't the manager but would get them. 5 mins later 7 people and the wicked witch come in hollering about where are my tickets and I need to sit in the seat I chose. It was so cringe worthy that I had to leave but on my way out with my two children the wicked witch says in her loudest rudest voice "we found your assigned seats for you!" I have gone to this establishment since I was 8 years old and was continuing this tradition with my children, I will never set foot into this building again. Bangor cinema lost a loyal customer on 6/21/25. We will continue to enjoy the theater experience but I won't spend a dime of...
Read moreThe lack of communication between the employees and their management is a joke. I was exercising my right to bear arms in MAINE (which has an open carry law) and there were no signs posted regarding "no guns" so I assumed I was fine. I was able to buy snacks, and go and sit in the theater for at least 10 min before the management came to me, asking to speak to me out in the lobby.
I was informed that their "institution" disallows firearms, which I can respect, but when I asked where the signs were, they told me they didn't have any, and when I asked what their employees would do for me if some loony pulled a hidden gun out and started shooting the place up, they told me, "let's just hope that never happens".
Are you kidding me? Ignorance is what led to the Colorado shootings, the school in CT, etc. I explained that the pistol was there for MY personal defense and that I was complying with all Maine's open carry laws, but was told I would be denied service if I didn't put it in my car. Upon returning to watch the movie (10 mins late) the manager shook my hand and said thanks, and I told him that my constitutional rights were violated and I was not pleased. He apologized that I felt that way, and when I asked why the employee that sold my ticket when I first walked in the door didn't inform me of their policy on "dangerous weapons" I was told, "It's a verbal policy".
Whatever dude. I hope that nothing bad ever happens, because I would hate for Karma to bite your butt off. Looking back at Bangor's 4th of July parade, I feel as though people would understand my want to feel safer - but...
