We had book a room at the TownePlace Suites in Bangor, Maine for September 10th 2016 to attend our grandson's first birthday party given by his parents who lived in Hampden, Maine. We had brought my wife's brother's daughter who was 8 years old with us so she could attend. We noticed she was very quiet when we picked her up but she claimed she was just tired and did sleep most of the trip which was over 2-1/2 hours. I thought when we stop at McDonald's for some coffee and a breakfast sandwich something was wrong because all she wanted was water. But again she insisted she was just tired. After arriving in Bangor around noontime we stopped to do a little shopping and our niece said she wanted to go to the Spirit of Halloween store to pick out a costume. On the way there she got very sick and I was forced to pull to the side of the road, she was pale and very hot so we decided we needed to go to the hotel to see if we could check in early because she needed to get cleaned up and her eyes were glassy and was very hot. The front desk staff couldn't have been more helpful and understanding, and even though it was barely 1:00pm they assured us they would find us something. So as I was getting my wife and niece out of the vehicle and loaded a cart the front desk said they had a room available and they had upgraded us to a two bedroom suite so the little girl could have more privacy and quiet since she wasn't feeling well. This went over and above what we expected and was grateful they acted so quickly to get this sick little girl a place where she could take some medicine and lie down. She never did make it to the party as luck would have it her mother and father had come down for the party in a separate vehicle with his parents and we called her father and he came over and stayed the afternoon with Sophia and took care of his daughter while we went to the birthday party for our grandson. Later in the day after some much needed rest and some medicine Sophie was well enough to go back home and made it without any further complications. We just wanted to say thank you to the front desk staff both on check-in for their help and for the fast and friendly staff on check-out as well. It proves that you can be professional and still have a heart and understand when your help is both needed and wanted and they did just that. We would not hesitate to stay at the Marriott TownePlace Suites whenever we are in the area. It is very up to date, bright,...

Read moreI stayed here with my family for business purposes and prior to checking in I requested that the room be one that had not had animals recently and be deep cleaned due to allergies. Upon check in, the room on the surface appeared to be clean. I was doing my own cleaning before unpacking our things. When I pulled back the sheets on the bed, I found strands of hair on both beds. The towels and wash clothes also had hair (human and animal) embedded into it. I requested all fresh towels and linen which also had hair on it. I was so grossed out that I went to the local Walmart to purchase my own. Once I got the room up to my standards it was of good quality. We kept smelling a odor that we assumed may have been the garbage disposal/trash at times so we kept the window open to keep air circulating which helped. I did not request another room because I had did so much just to clean the one I was in; I was afraid it may get worse. It was not until days later one of my children was searching for his EarPods and looked deeply under his bed and saw dog poop under it. This was the smell we kept smelling for days. Clearly, this room was not cleaned properly. I called the front desk and an employee came up to remove the poop. The carpet was not cleaned afterwards. I spoke to management the following Monday morning and requested a formal complaint be started that she stated she is working on. I am currently waiting on the outcome of all of this. The staff was attentive...
