Cromwell Harbor Motel — Hotel in Bar Harbor

We spent 6 nights at the Cromwell in August 2025. This family run property is ideally located within walking distance of downtown Bar Harbor. We walked to dinner every night. It is also a short drive to Acadia National Park. Joy greeted us on our arrival and welcomed us to Maine. She gave us our keys and told us to contact them between 8am-8pm if we needed anything. The room was spacious and clean. The property in general was spotless. It’s nicely landscaped and in very good condition. Each room has an outdoor sitting area with chairs. The rooms aren’t cleaned or re-stocked daily. You receive at least 2 emails telling you this before arrival. There’s a fillable page in the room that can be hung on the door requesting towels, toiletries, etc. The room was equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and hair dryer. There’s also a window a/c unit. We needed it as the days were in the mid 80’s the week we were there and the nights were in the high 60’s, low 70’s. The tv was a little on the small side- we didn’t turn it on- who needs tv on vacation? We enjoyed using the pool on hot afternoons after hiking in the park. The highlight of our summer trip to Bar Harbor was staying at the Cromwell Harbor Motel. From the moment I began making the reservation to the hugs as we departed Maine, I could never have expected such a divine place to stay. The motel is very conveniently located. It's an easy walk to the shops and restaurants that call to tourists. The staff was so kind to send a message about construction on the street; we really appreciated that. The motel is also very close to the entrance to Acadia National Park. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. To say they are clean is an understatement...absolutely IMMACULATE!! Beds are super comfortable, towels are soft, bathrooms are large. We wanted for nothing. Service? OMG...the proprietor, Joy, was an absolute "joy" to work with!! SUPER friendly and helpful, very accommodating and informative. She was an amazing representative of the motel! Her restaurant suggestions were spot on and, because of her, we had some amazing meals in incredible locations. We felt honored to stay at this lovely establishment, and the 3 of us give it INFINITY stars!! Stay at the Cromwell...

Don't let the word "Motel" or the blue carpet fool you. This is a fantastic place to stay in Bar Harbor! My family was hesitant at first, but I am so glad we stayed here. The Conway is a family owned business and it's clear from the moment you check in that they take great pride in their business and your comfort.

It boasts a great location (walkable to downtown - 15 mins max at a slow pace to reach the heart of it), safe, and a very sweet staff. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and so clean they stunned. There's even a little patio set in front of each room if you want to enjoy some coffee or wine outside. You're a quick drive up to Acadia Nat'l Park for Cadillac Mountain sunrise, trails, etc., and other fun areas to explore, touristy or not.

Joy is a literal joy and full of wonderful tips and information. Take her advice. She can help guide you on where to eat and what to do if you really want to experience Maine. We're already planning our...
