We enjoyed our stay at the Ivy Manor Inn. The staff was really helpful and set us up with a lot of things to do and see and restaurants that they enjoyed going to. The room was clean, comfortable, although we felt it could use some updating (sink drained slow, tiles cracked, ceiling cracked, carpet was old, etc.). I understand its an old building , but we just stayed at a place built in the 1700's in Kennebunkport that was awesome. The inn provided us with soap, shampoo, etc which was nice. Each day the room was cleaned and the bed was made. Our room was number 8 and located off the main lounge room. We initially thought this would be a problem due to noise, but it wasnt. I did find it slightly odd that when we opened the door to our room, everyone in the lounge could see in. We adjusted to this, so it ended up being just an annoyance more than anything. The inn is open to the public during the day and evening hours for drinks as there is a bar in the main lounge. We found it enjoyable to talk to the different people visiting the bar. There is also a fire pit outside that you can take your drinks to. We didnt really use it, but thought it was a nice touch. The inn's location is awesome. We could walk to anywhere in Bar Harbor within a couple of minutes, but found we stuck pretty close for dinners as there are a lot of restaurants literally right next door. Its also lined up on the main drive into Acadia. So one left turn out of the parking lot and we were on our way. Each morning the inn provides an array of pasties and coffee or tea. We were spending a lot on food, so it was nice to take a break on breakfast and just enjoy a pastry and coffee. Overall, this was a great place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. If I did, I would probably upgrade to one of the larger rooms. Had the room been updated more, I would have given a 5 star rating. Other than that, it was a...
Read moreFULL DISCLOSURE: I'll start my review out on a negative to get it out of the way. Having amenities for your guests should mean exactly that. FOR YOUR GUESTS. Allowing non guests and anyone off the street to partake in the firepits or the bar scene is a great selling point. I get it. But when you're paying as much as you do to stay here and these amenities are being shared with random people... that's not fair. I'm paying $300+ a night to stay here, I expect to be able to sit at a firepit with my drink and relax. I shouldn't have to fight with somone that's not only not staying there, but possibly just passing through Bar Harbor. They put a sign out that says "non guests must leave at certain time". But it's not enforced, so people can literally spend the entire night in the same spot around a fire. I know, I've seen it. Other than that.... here's my POSITIVE review.
Me and my wife always stay in Bar Harbor when we visit. We've been back 4 times now and are going a 5th here in May 2022. We always stay at Ivy Manor. For starters it's an amazing location. It's not right in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor, but just close enough that you don't feel like you have to walk an eternity to get to where it is you want to go. The staff couldn't be more nice and helpful. The day you check in they offer you a complimentery glass of wine which is very nice. I enjoy their complimentary breakfast as well. Free is the best kind of breakfast. They offer a variety. Bagles, toast, muffins, juices, coffee, fruit, ceral, etc. It's perfect for grabbing on the go. We've always loved our experience here. That's why we keep going back. But as before, the amenities being provided to everyone is kind of a drag. Other than...
Read moreWe travel often and have never been treated so gratuitously as we have been at the Ivy Manor Inn! We loved staying Here!! Upon check in, we were greeted with a glass of champagne to welcome us!
The place is well maintained, clean and just beautiful! Peter, the Owner, goes out of his way to make the guests comfortable and happy. We were treated like family!! The staff, including Peter’s parents, were friendly and so willing to help!
We (6 of us from Louisiana) wanted to cook our own lobsters, so Peter arranged for us to use the porch that belonged to one of the rooms that was vacant. His staff set up a table and things we needed.
We were visiting before Jordan Pond Restaurant was open for the season so our friends wanted to try Popovers. But could not find a place to try them. So we decided to cook some Popovers (some of our friends were staying in the suite with an oven) and Peter’s parents gratuitously helped us out with that!
Each morning Peter arranged Coffee, tea, and juice and an assortment of pastries for all the guests! They offered advice on places to eat and see while in the Bar Harbor area.
Yes, we definitely recommend staying in the Ivy Manor Inn while visiting Bar Harbor. It is in a perfect location for everything! And if it should be booked, check out Peter’s other Inn, the Acadia Inn just around the corner. Peter knows how to take care of...
