We spent five nights at the Atlantean this July. The location is perfect, a minute's walk from everything Bar Harbor has to offer, but the Atlantean is nestled on a side street surrounded by private homes, so it feels private and quiet. Brad is a kind host, but not an overbearing one. Some B&B owners can suffocate you with hospitality. Brad was kind, available, and respectful, but didn't overdue it in any way. I prefer this approach, and felt it was both professional and approachable. As others have noted, Atlantean's breakfasts are both unique and tasty. They're very much what you'd expect from two culinary artists. The Atlantean struck a good balance of feeling like being somewhere historic and providing an expierence in the stay itself. It's suprisingly well decorated with a modern flair that blends seamlessly with the upscale historic nature of the inn. The parking is incredibly useful, and you can't appreciate that until you visit Bar Harbor. We don't have an electric vehicle, but I imagine those that do welcome the chargers on-site. The room highlighted the inn's historic nature with the right level of modern upgrades, including a high end bathroom/steam shower. Their child policy may be off putting to some, however my wife and I are both parents, and my wife is an educator, so the reprieve from children was welcome for a few days. If you're a family with young children, the Atlantean probably isn't for you. There are plenty of places in Bar Harbor where you can stay, while your children romp and play. The inn is 5 minutes from Acadia National Park, which is where we spent the bulk of our stay. Brad is an expert on the park and local area, and I'd advise caution in not taking his advise on anything from the best trails to the weather. He advised is that 90% of whale watch excursions were being cancelled due to fog. We booked one anyway, only to have it cancelled due to fog. We took the kayak tour he recommended and it was the highlight of our trip. I can't say enough good, nor anything negative about the Atlantean. We would gladly return there and if we make another trip to Bar Harbor will most certainly stay again if a room is available.

My wife and I were newbies to Bed & Breakfasts even though we had been well-traveled. We knew we could stay at a hotel in Bar Harbor but decided to try a B&B and after searching, found that The Atlantean looked remarkable, and visitors all rated it the highest of all B&Bs in the village. So we decided to try it -- and Oh My! -- it so exceeded our expectations in every way. The room (Chatwold) was spacious, beautifully appointed, and full of little surprises, modern conveniences, an amazing walk-in shower, and in the morning, wonderful sunlight. We had read about the breakfasts being delicious and upon the first one, Nadine and Brad knocked it out of the park. Breakfast was a culinary delight all week from both a taste perspective and visual presentation. But what else would you expect from two accomplished and creative chefs? The Atlantean itself, which is a piece of Bar Harbor history, is both grand and glorious. But more importantly, it is literally a half-block from Main Street Bar Harbor and mere minutes from fine dining (and being chefs, Nadine and Brad were more than happy to competently recommend excellent places to dine for lunch and dinner -- nice call on Galyn's and Terrace Grille). Just as important, The Atlantean is only a mile from Acadia NP, which was our main objective. Brad gave us detailed instructions on where to go, what to see, and alternative places to explore, which was key to our having a great experience in the park that otherwise could have ended in wasted time. But the best thing about The Atlantean overall are the hosts, Nadine and Brad, who were warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and so friendly that you feel as if you are reconnecting with old friends. They made The Atlantean a 5-star experience for us. I am so glad and fortunate that we chose it for our first time at a B&B. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

✨5 STAR STAY✨ Be warned, you’ll never forget your experience here. First, if you’ve not booked a place for your stay, go ahead and stop looking. I travel the world for work and I’ve stayed, very gratefully… in many places. But the Atlantean is pretty much top on the list, and here’s why: Most people travel for the location and not the accommodation. But my visit was flipped. Brad and Nadine, the dedicated owners, surprised us all at every turn. The stunningly appointed rooms, found us admiring the decor and design. A bright mix of coastal light, and modern art with fresh flowers tucked in every nook of the 1800s three story home, and the smell of something fresh baked wafting clear to your cozy quarters…made it each day like HOME. The designer 5 way showers, fluffy towels, Gilcrest&Soames custom soaps made for a perfect end to freshen and warm up after those cool coastal Maine days. Their smiling staff were always helpful. Now if your not sold by now… there is more. It turns out the Brad and Nadine not only excel in hospitality, they are both classically trained in the culinary arts. No bed and breakfast you’ll visit will be like this one. Everyday a outstanding, beautifully prepared and incredibly tasty breakfast was presented. Fill your custom Atlantean coffee mug with soul-stirring coffee as much as you like, they will bring more, and then head over to check out books on what to do, where to eat and how to make memories here in Bar Harbor. Add this place to your core memories of living life. Welcome to Maine.

Exactly as advertised! If anything this B&B should be considered a breakfast and bed. It's been 11 days since I checked in and I am still telling everyone how wonderful Nadine and Brad made my days. The food is amazing, and the rooms are clean and welcoming. I arrived much later than I first thought I would. I was greeted with a kind note and keys to my room waiting on me. I unlocked my room and was more than pleased with a king size comfortable bed, temperature controls for my own personal room, and a beautiful clean bathroom and shower. After a great sleep I woke up went to see the sunrise and upon my return was welcomed by Brad. I showered and came down to breakfast, and at first I was thinking "how is this considered a breakfast" at what I thought appeared as a small plate, but it was so healthy and filling I was taught a lesson that when chefs decided to become owners of a B&B you should follow them and support them. The meals were perfectly portioned and I love to eat, and yet could barely finish the plates. I stayed 3 nights and the meals were so healthy, fresh and wonderful I couldn't wait but to share my stories on social media from my table or from the park almost across the street. My last morning I took a cup of coffee along The Shore Path and had a deer follow me 40 - 50 yards down the path. Brad provided me with suggestions and I found myself alone at 5 am watching the sunrise. My heart needed this weekend to clear my mind, and I can say for certain nowhere else in Bar Harbor could have provided this other than my stay at the Atlantean. I was lucky enough to be there for the 4th of July and the neighbors have an annual fund raising for library. This year they had to offer balloons instead of lemonade ( thank you 2020 ) and yet it made the weekend that much better when you felt like you were part of the community. You are so close to everything you would want in Bar Harbor with the most outstanding breakfast and accommodating couple to run a B&B. The grounds, location, cleanliness, food & rooms have me already thinking maybe I can get back there this weekend.Unless Nadine and Brad are booked for every weekend (as they should be) I cannot image staying anywhere else...
