Charming, historic (built in 1884), spacious, excellent location - we did not want to leave! We stayed in the Norumbega room on the 1st floor, and it was the biggest room we have ever stayed in (former library with books still in the shelves) and a private porch (it was just for that room) that spanned the entire side of the house with an array of wonderful seating from a relaxing porch swing, chaise lounge, couches, and an outside table that seated four plus an inside table that seated four tucked into a lovely turret with rounded window panes. A mini-refrigerator (no freezer), Keurig, fireplace, thick bath towels, and an extra blanket at the foot of the bed with some of the great amenities. The king bed was comfortable and there was a full size bed for others you may be traveling with. The antique furniture and room decor was a wonderful way to enjoy a touch of 1800's while upgraded with modern day luxury, such as cable and a nice TV. For accessibility, note that the cottage inn is 10 small steps up while the motel does have rooms on the ground floor. The Norumbega room has a traditional shower in a bathtub.
After staying at Moseley Cottage Inn, I have become a fan of Bed and Breakfasts Inns! You indicated your breakfast preferences the day before, and breakfast was delivered to your room on a tray on a tray stand! Blueberry pancakes (very good), pancakes, Eggs Benedict, Egg McMuffin, scrambled eggs all came with a choice of bacon or sausage patty with the eggs also coming with home fries. A fresh fruit cup and blueberry scones were also available. In the lobby, was 24-hour coffee and tea plus homemade chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon/evening.
Location was perfect -3 buildings from Bar Harbor Main Street - it was so easy to swing by to drop off shopping purchases. It was great to have a free parking space and not to have to find a parking space in town. You can walk everywhere in downtown Bar Harbor and the Bar Harbor Shore path trail can be picked up a few streets away on Wayman Lane. You are only 15 minutes to Arcadia National Park.
I absolutely loved the Norumbega room and porch and look forward to coming back to Bar Harbor just to stay at the Moseley...
Read moreThis is a beautiful old inn, the building goes back to the 19th century,so you can sort of feel echoes back to that earlier time here...if you appreciate that kind of historical vibe, this is a great place! I stayed in the " Dorr Room", since I was traveling solo, and this room is perfect for one person. It's comfortable, clean, and reminded me of my college dorm room- in a good way. The bed was comfortable and the room is nicely appointed. The only quirk, which I didn't mind, is that for this particular room the bathroom is across the hallway. I was told that this set up only applies to the Dorr Room. I liked the friendly and attentive service, the delicious breakfast and cookies that were provided, and the beautiful big porch- which is perfect for sitting down and relaxing for a spell. The parking situation is good and this place has an excellent proximity to all the shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor. I loved the fact that I could step out the front door and be at any number of places to eat in literally five minutes. I will absolutely consider staying here again during any future visit to Bar Harbor/ Acadia National Park. I would add that I found the rates to be very fair! I recommend...
Read moreI had such a poor experience this week with the Moseley Cottage, I feel compelled to share it. My husband and I booked two nights through Booking.com about three weeks prior to arrival. I received a confirmation for the stay. Three days before arrival, I sent an email confirming arrival and asking for a 1pm check-in. Mosely responded that they could not guarantee 1pm as check in is at 4.
We arrived at about 3pm and they could not find our reservation so I showed them my confirmation. The inn keeper then emerged from a back room to tell me I had spoke to her a week prior and cancelled the reservation (?) and they had refunded me- both of these statements were false. With an expressionless face, she informed me they resold our room and had no vacancy! She could not provide an answer to why I received no cancellation email, refund, or why they had confirmed our arrival three days prior.
I immediately contacted Booking.com who was useless, frankly. About 45 minutes later, I received a cancellation email from Mosely!
Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. I found this establishment to be disorganized in the best scenario and unethical in...
