Stopped in for lunch on Saturday for the first time, definitely a one and done experience. Great location. The decor, a cross between an old school diner and a cozy cafe. The menu is small but manages to offer enough variety to have a great dining experience. All the makings of a great restaurant, right up until you walk in. No one to acknowledge you. The one person working was busy chatting at the bar on the other end of the restaurant, my wife finally walked down there and asked if we seat ourselves. We ordered coffee and water. The water never came, we received it on the second request, not a deal breaker. Time to order some food, the Chefs Board (love charcuterie), and the Tower Orleans. The server then returns to let us know they can’t do a Chef Board, trying to stay hopeful, I tell the server not a problem, I’ll take the Fish of the Day. The server returns again to let me know they do not have asparagus for the FOD, I let server know that it’s not a problem, I ordered FOD for the crawfish fried rice. The server returns with our food, and informs me they also don't have the fried rice either and dropped a plate with a pitiful piece of baked fish on it, I said I don’t want it. We kept the Tower Orleans to share. The sauce was good. All the fried food was fried to the color of dark walnut and tasted like it was fried in old oil. Great location, great concept…epic fail! I can see running out of something, understandable, but after three attempts to order from the menu and nothing, why put out a...
Read moreOrdered breakfast sandwich on a weekend. Although, the food was pretty good, the waitress seemed to be a bit curt and on edge. For example, when I asked her what size are the pancakes, she asked "what do you mean?!" There were times I had to repeat myself or confused by her statements when she notified me that she had to clean off tables; I was not sure which tables needed to be cleaned off or where to sit.
I did notice she was by herself and working on a number of tables. I recommend that the establishment have at least two people working on the floor and at least one person at the bar area.
I'm not sure how the weekdays are but I do not wish to dine-in on weekends if Brione (sp?) is working. She needs to work on how she approaches people and reframe her responses with statements instead of questions. I do know other diners were responding to Brione behavior with a firm tone. I tried my best to answer her with a friendly tone. In light of this, the decor is funky yet warm and the food...
Read moreWe ate at Passe for Mother's Day brunch. I was a bit disappointed that we could only choose from the brunch menu which was rather small, especially since they weren't even busy. We had really been looking forward to the seafood beignets, but that wasn't on the brunch menu.
I ordered the Bananas Foster Pancakes. The pancakes were good, but the sauce was definitely off. The bananas were actually very thin and chewy. I didn't even know bananas could be chewy. I suspect that they used dehydrated bananas, but I can't be sure. Whatever they did, it was bad. My husband got the steak and it was overcooked with one side being much more done than the other. My mother got the shrimp and grits and I think her dish was okay.
With regard to decor, it was cute, but definitely not enough for a nice dinner. It was more like very nice diner decor.
I had heard good things about it, but it didn't live up...
