Reserved two rooms for a short trip to the Bay area to help a relative move. Both rooms were proof of you get what you pay for. While we were checking in, we heard another guest telling the front desk of all the issues in the suite they were in (the room wasn't clean and things weren't working). First, I'll give credit for free parking and free wifi. The rooms are quite sparse. Paid extra upon arrival to make sure one room had a mini fridge. That room also came with urine spots on the toilet seat. The non-mini fridge room had baseboards covered in black dust and bits of trash on the floor to keep the dead bugs company. Called the front desk to ask for someone to clean the floor but it was after 8pm and no one was available. Called again the next day and was told that housekeeping cleans rooms every four days but they did send someone to clean the floor in response to my call. On the fourth day, "cleaning" consisted only of emptying the trash and replacing the towels; bed was left unmade, bathroom did not appear to have even been wiped down. The AC unit was falling apart but actually still worked to keep the room at a comfortable temperature so that was a nice surprise. We heard every door opening and slamming shut, as well as conversations outside the window so if you're looking for quiet, you won't really find it here. This motel cut every corner they could: no "Do Not Disturb" door hanger (we asked for one and was told they don't have them), no box of facial tissue, very small sink with no drain stopper, no bag for dirty laundry, shower curtain barely spanned the shower, no privacy for the windows that were facing the parking lot (if you open the curtain, there was no sheer panel or reflective film so anyone going to their car can easily and clearly see into the room), smallest bars of soap I've ever encountered in a hotel, no blow dryer, and no complimentary shampoo/conditioner. Not an issue for us on this trip but also no iron or ironing board. We were glad that we brought a charging cord for our cell phones that plugs into the wall as there were no USB port charging options that we've come to expect based on other experiences. We booked this motel solely based on price and location. Lesson learned. I understand that Motel 6 is a budget chain but my experience is that there are some things that should just be a given...like a clean room. We won't be staying here again. In the future, we will gladly pay more for a better place to stay, even if it's a little...
Read moreThe room was really clean and LARGE. I loved that part. The beds were both very clean and comfortable. The fridge was immaculate, the shower was gleaming, and the towels were fresh. Our actual room was perfect. Thank you so much, and thanks to your fine cleaning staff who truly respect your establishment.
While I was so excited and grateful that there were floating balls and tubes available, the pool area was poor. There was a GANG SYMBOL carved into the shallow end, it was littered with debris and leaves, and it had a slight green tinge that turned several people away. More frustrating though was a contingent of young men in the hot tub who were smoking, playing loud music, and generally intimidating others who wished to use the tub. I witnessed three women who approached and then retreated, likely out of discomfort. Another family patiently waited for them to leave before entering. I was also uncomfortable because the men continued to look over the wall at me, staring and making a point to let me know they were looking. My daughter was shivering and was looking forward to a quick warm up in the tub, but she too had to wait because I did not wish to deal with what would very likely become a sexual harassment situation (something I have thus far managed to protect her from--AMAZING!). I do not place blame on the staff of Motel 6 to for the behavior of the men in the jacuzzi. I just want to express my frustration and discomfort. Those men were not the only people who paid for a chance at the swim area. On the other hand, I believe Motel 6 has an immediate responsibility to remove any indication that gang-related activities occur on their premises. The blue gang (X3) has marked that location and it is entirely unacceptable. Had I time and energy, I'd have relocated based on that gang sign and the presence of men who could have possibly been a threat because of the markings. Call me reactionary; I felt unsafe. Lastly, the entire lower level absolutely REEKED of cigarette smoke. Thank you to the gentleman at the front desk who appointed us to the third floor. I am entirely grateful for this opportunity to evaluate my experience at your motel and I thank you for hearing my appreciations...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE IF U DO NOT WANT HOUSEKEEPERS WALKING INTO YOUR ROOM WITHOUT KNOCKING. Also notice the multiple fake reviews that are verbatim to each other boosting their star rating. Was a decent hotel until New manager (Tony) took over. I've been here a few weeks until I had enough. Been walked in on by housekeepers who do not knock several times. Keep getting disgusting stained towels with hair on them. Shower curtain had human excrement on it when we checked in and had to immediately have the room re cleaned. They shut off our hot water without notice one morning. This morning after informing housekeeping I did not want service I went to the office for 3 minutes when I came back there was a housekeeper in my room with the door wide open (I have 2 dogs)(one dog by the door about to go out into the hallway) all in all this place is on the decline with no accountability from management, Would rather lie to the guest and beat around the bush then actually resolve anything. Gave us a $10 credit for vending machine eating my money but nothing for the experience I've had at this hotel. Gave him an opportunity to make it right and he told us to just check out.
UPDATE...... still have not received any kind of follow up. Found out the manager put me on do not rent status. Basically if you complain about his property or staff he will ask you to leave. General Manager (Tony) has zero guest service skills and blames the guest for his hotels mistakes. ( My wife was actually nude and walked in on by a housekeeper and nothing was done) as evidenced by the fact they still walk in your room. Do not give this property your money. Called this morning to find out if they decided to refund me anything from my horrible experience. Tony the general manager once again refused. Told me to call the 800 guest services number as a brush off. Called guest services and got a refund of $105 as the manager Tony never bothered to respond to motel 6 regarding my complaint. Just once again proves how mis managed...
