I stayed here the weekend of my wedding (married off site) and aside from the beautiful building and location, it was kind of a nightmare. The hotel sales team set up a block of rooms for my group, but prices and room bookings were constantly getting messed up in the months leading up to the stay. My friends and family were stressed about the price and the difficulty booking, as was I. Finally, I touched base with the hotel manager who helped me clear it up, but it was really frustrating.
Next, we arrived at the hotel the night before our wedding, and we got in later than we wanted to, and the pool had just closed which I was really looking forward to. I was sad about it, but understood. I was still teary-eyed from a hard day, and that definitely made the receptionist uncomfortable, and I apologized to her and assured her it had nothing to do with her or our stay (we had just brought our dog home from the ICU so I was having trouble regulating my emotions). To the hotel’s credit, we called ahead and they were willing to allow our dog to stay with us if need be, which was really nice of them.
However, the next morning one of my bridesmaids overheard the same staff member telling another coworker how “a hysterical woman came in crying at her because the pool was closed” along with some other judgmental and hyperbolic story telling about me. I was embarrassed, but had a wedding to get to so I let it go.
As for the rest of the stay, my (now) husband and I enjoyed our rooms, but we were very hard-pressed to find any hotel staff at any given time. There was only one person in the entire lobby the Sunday morning we left - while dozens of guests were trying to leave. This same staff was running reception, as well as the cafe completely across the lobby, and the bar was closed. There was also only ONE luggage cart for the entire building! It was really frustrating for my entire wedding party and family - most went without coffee, and none of us had access to a luggage cart because another guest had taken it all morning.
TLDR: This wasn’t the worst experience in the world of course - the rooms were very nice, Batson is great, the bar and bartenders and fabulous (though the drinks are very pricey, the view from the roof is lovely (pic attached) and when you can get ahold of staff, they are USUALLY very nice and helpful. However, my and my entire wedding party/family’s gripe was how inaccessible the staff seemed to be in the mornings, and no one was impressed with the receptionist who loudly talked about me in the lobby right in front of my loved ones. However, the PRICE of this hotel is why this all matters, we were here in September where rooms are at minimum ~$500 a night. The lack of service was INSANE for that price. Especially in a smaller town like Biddeford. That’s the main reason for the low review.
I really hope that the guest services and staff availability improve, because we would love to come back to this hotel for our anniversary, but we will never be able to justify the price of our stay again for the...

✅We booked a 3-night midweek stay in the deluxe king room for our first visit to Maine, incidentally also our anniversary. The value for the nightly rate was wonderful, and I would have loved to stay a whole week.
😯On opening the door to our room we found a secretary desk and chair in the entryway, and a 2 sink vanity in the bathroom with separate wash closet and walk in shower.
❤️Favorite part: the bedroom. There were wood floors covered in rich colored rugs, exposed brick walls, high ceilings, a fireplace, statement pendulum light, reading lights on the headboard, and so many comfy chairs and pillows.
💧Complimentary still and sparkling water taps on each floor are such a great touch! Nothing worse than forgetting to hydrate when you’re traveling, and this was so much better than the expectation of filling cups from the bathroom sink.
🌟Staff were welcoming and professional. We elected not to have the room cleaned during our brief stay, because everything was so well thought out, it was very easy to keep tidy. But on leaving our room the second day, a cleaning team member making her rounds politely asked us if we needed anything. We gratefully declined, but that moment was a signal to me of the level of care that the hotel staff wants you to experience.
🤫The opposite side of the hotel are residences, so there’s an expected level of respect and honor of quiet hours that make it easy to relax and unwind after a day out exploring what Biddeford and Portland have to offer.
📍Biddeford might initially surprise you. There’s some areas of town that seem boarded up and neglected, and our drive to The Lincoln made me think I might have made a booking mistake. At check-in, the manager made a point to say that they have after-hours security watching the property and parking. Psst: Onsite parking is included with your stay, and is in a lot, not a garage.
🥯Like many cities where the neighborhood is slowly transforming, there are coffee shops and a bagelry within walking distance, and so many great restaurants within a short drive. The hotel itself also offers a coffee shop, full restaurant, gym, and pool on the property, so if you need to stay put, there’s plenty to do in the building.
The Lincoln was a great basecamp for our visit to Maine, and we would...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning hotel from the lobby to the hallways to the room. Rooms are very large and the high ceilings make them feel even bigger. The colors are dark and moody but the large windows make it bright and warm at the same time. Beds are extremely comfortable and linens are plush. The fireplace is a lovely touch and has a remote to change colors etc. Each room has a fridge. The sink is large and is separate from the toilet. The waterfall shower is beautiful and large with great water pressure. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. There is water in the room. 2 glass bottles of sparkling that can be refilled with either still or sparkling in the ice room near the elevator. Such a great way to provide water and reduce waste, have never seen this before but think every hotel should do it. Lobby bar is beautiful and staff is so friendly. Seating area is comfortable with couches, tables and bar seats. Music plays most evenings and is a different type each night, very lovely. Rooftop pool is beautiful and clean. Great way to relax on a nice day but can be chilly when you get out. On our second day I brought the robe from the room up to the pool and it was a great way to get warm as soon as you get out. I would highly recommend this hotel which is obvious based on the rating but a couple of minor imperfections for me were: while the closet is a great size it is dark and would be perfect if there was a light inside of it. Also in our room, the toilet door wouldn’t stay closed unless it was locked and there were a few areas of wear. The television has limited channels, think it is very very basic cable only. These are extremely minor things but felt it was worth mentioning. The hotel filters in that amazing scent that I have smelled at a few different hotels. You feel relaxed the minute you walk in the door and smell it. There is reserved parking for hotel guests directly in front of the hotel so it is very easy to use your car if needed, but honestly once you are here you don’t...
