The best gym in Maine. I moved here from NYC and have been searching for the perfect gym - I found it. Located in the Lincoln Hotel in Biddeford, Impact Fitness’s ambiance and warmth draw you in.
Prior to joining Impact, I previewed 2 local gyms on friend’s recommendations; the first gym (Saco) felt chaotic and disorganized. I was left waiting 10 minutes to speak with a rep and when he finally arrived, verbally hurled the sales pitch at me while we stood by the front desk. I felt like a number and couldn’t get out of there fast enough. The second gym (Portland) was the opposite experience in that no one came to speak with me. The gentleman at the front desk couldn’t be bothered to look up when I asked about membership, and that was that. I was so discouraged.
Later that morning I stopped by the Lincoln Hotel for a coffee and decided to check out Impact Fitness. I was blown away: immediately greeted with a big smile from the gentleman at the front desk. The owner, Scott, who noticed I was inquiring about membership called over a trainer to tour me through the facility and speak with me about my fitness goals. I was so impressed with the warmth and level of professionalism from Scott and his team, and amazed at how clean and beautiful the space was, that I signed up that day.
I’m now 30+ days into my fitness journey and couldn’t be happier with my decision to choose Impact. For those searching for a comfortable and rewarding experience, I highly...
Read moreThis gym is awesome really. They have so many machines. It's a bodybuilder's haven. This is also the kind of gym where if your kids play high school football and need a gym to strength train for your house in Maine for the summer, this is it.
The Good Stuff The owner is super nice. Place is kept really well. It's a community of strong people who respect this gym and others around them. They have all the leg day stuff including the cable squat machine which is so hard to find and great stuff to cure chicken legs. Plenty of stair steppers and treadmills. They have the best protein options at the counter for after your workout. I had no idea 55lb plates existed until I came here! The dumbbells also go up to 140 pounds.
The Not-So-Great My only gripe with this gym is they have 0 ab machines. Parking is a nightmare too. You have to park on the Main Street parallel.
Final Thoughts Either way, I'm happy to have gone to this gym and support a...
Read moreThis gym is great. They've got all of the equipment I've needed (free weights, cable machines, cardio, etc) and continue to optimize their equipment. Even during peak hours, which really isn't that busy due to the size of the place, I have rarely waited for a machine/had to change the order of my scheduled lifts. The gym is super clean and it's got a cool finished mill building feel. Culture wise, the staff is great and fellow patrons have been kind and considerate. There's certainly some guys that lift pretty hard here... but it's not not the roid-house vibe that I've seen at some other gyms. It seems that average person is just trying to show up, get stronger, and get healthier and it's a pretty even dispersion of people in different stages of their fitness career. Smoothies are good too... I would enthusiastically...
