I'm a Grateful Dead hippie musician who leads the band 'Magic Bus,' and tie-dye shirts are pretty much both the 'band uniform' as well as the standard attire for all our fans. As such, I own 30-40 tie-dye t-shirts --everything from premium products made by Liquid Blue and Gypsy Rose to handmade tie-dyes I've purchased from aspiring entrepreneurs at hippie festivals. But 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' (as Plato first said, in the 7th Century B.C.), so whatever kind of tie-dye shirt you happen to like best is the winner, right? For me, I was looking for a BRIGHT YELLOW (my favorite color) tie-dye shirt in my size, and something with NO writing on it. No matter what, I simply could not find one, anywhere --until I came across Sol and her Rainbow Sunshine Dye shop! Here's the deal: Sol obviously puts love and care into her artistry, and the resulting quality of tie-dye shirts are absolutely unsurpassed! Not only did she custom-make the EXACT shirt I wanted, but I had a choice of different shades of yellow --and (due to her experience and process) the color was so bright and vivid, it seemed to just explode off the shirt (her artistic canvas)! Rainbow Sunshine tie-dye shirts are clearly MUCH better than any of the many tie-dye shirts in my collection. When I play a music gig, I scan the room and check out all the different tie-dyes that people wear. "There's one I've seen before," I think to myself. Or, "yeah, I've got that one at home." What I seek to wear (and define my own hippie style) is a tie-dye I've never seen before. That's why I wanted a shirt with no writing on it, and one with a 'monochromatic' scheme (--one color only, offset with white). Sol made me an awesome yellow tie-dye that I proudly wore on stage as Magic Bus performed at the Dancing in the Streets Fest (Aug. 5, 2023), near On Tour Brewing Co. on Hubbard Street. And she recently fulfilled my order for a couple more tie-dyes, including a blue/white color scheme (that I'll wear when MB performs at On Tour this Sunday afternoon, Nov. 19). Wonderful handmade items that the WHOLE family loves! Sol’s tie dye shirts and scrunchies are our go to in my house. The kids ask to wear them all the time because they love looking at the different patterns and colors. Sol is creative and her posts on Instagram are so fun to watch!
