I can't recommend Red Dog North Station, for a variety of reasons: My dog seemed to hate it there. He would cry and try to bolt to the exit whenever we stepped into the office. It broke my heart. This behavior is extremely atypical for him; doggie daycare has been one of his favorite things in all the other states where we've lived. I suspect his reaction to Red Dog was, in part, due to the fact that daycare at North Station is essentially just a room (albeit different rooms for different size dogs) with little stimulation, no windows, and not much to do. Still, given how much he disliked it, it made me wonder why. There are no cameras, and they have no plans to install any. Seems odd compared to every other doggie daycare we've ever been to. Makes me wonder what's happening back there such that it can't be on video. Given how much my dog disliked it there, I had to make the hard decision of whether to stop going. My apt building was undergoing construction (very loud), I didn't have a car, and my options in the area were very limited. In sum, I felt trapped, and it wasn't a good experience for my dog or for me. It's not a good value for the money. With daycare, given the North Station facility, you're basically just paying for your dog to be held in a room with other dogs. The rare instance where I was able to go back and get my dog myself (because the staff were sparse and occupied), I found him locked in a crate. Any stimulation (walk outside, etc) will cost you extra. It's very difficult to get the staff on the phone or to get follow up on any items. Once they have your money, I guess there isn't a need to make you feel like a priority. Perhaps this is due to what appears to be quite a bit of staff turnover. Again, this begs the question "why?"
For the sake of our furry companions, I'm glad to see some other folks have had a good experience at Red Dog. Personally, however, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with any practical...
Read moreEDIT: their manager reached out to me within 24 hours of my original post and ensured me that they’d address my concern. Ever since, every single staff member has been outstanding. They go above and beyond to greet me, update me on my pup, and show me that they care. I highly recommend that if you have any concerns with Red Dog, bring it up to them! They’re clearly great at incorporating feedback🫶🏼
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Pros: long hours, add on services to daycare, morning staff is nice enough
Cons: their customer service is horrible, specifically their evening staff. Whenever I pick up my dog, I get the impression that the manager hates me, my dog, or both. At other daycares we've been to, I've at very least been greeted at pick up with a "hello" and a sentence on how my dog did today. I picked up my dog today and the woman literally didn't say a word to me when handing over my dog. Especially at a daycare where the owners can't go in, see pictures, or watch a video, I do not think it's too much to ask for staff to provide a small update on how the dog is doing. Whenever I ask anything, I'm made to feel like I'm a burden for doing so. I'm typically a VERY lowkey dog mom, but went out of my way to write this review. While I haven't witnessed anything that makes me worry that my dog is being cared for and that they're safe (which is why I give it 2 stars instead of 1), I would recommend checking out other...
Read moreAfter research & referrals, I chose the north station location. We brought our 16 month old for his day care evaluation last week. The manager said she would call at 11 to let us know how the eval went. I didn’t hear from anyone so I called at 12:20 to see how things were and to confirm he ate lunch. The girl who answered the phone said he was playing and she wasn’t sure if he ate yet. I let her know I would be there around 2:00. When I arrived at 2:10, the young woman at the desk seemed frazzled. She brought him out and also his container of food that was full. When I asked her why he didn’t eat, she wasn’t sure. She said we had 50 dogs for 2 of us today. I paid, gave a tip (because that is the prompt you get first) and left. When we got in the car the dog was visibly thirsty and his mouth and tongue were very dry. He drank a bowl of water. I emailed the owner , only to receive a call from the manager kelly. Kelly did her job however, as the manager she should have called me like she said. When you evaluate animals for the first time, this should be where you shine. My issue is the multiple hiccups along the way with 3 different people. We were so excited to be a client at this location but we won’t...
