Went with my kids last Monday. Tour Guide was just like a glorified security guard; she hardly said anything. Layout was very hodge podge, heavy on the Bruins since they own the place. I would have paid maybe $10 per person, but actual price was like 3 times that amount.
Museum might be better if it had its own space. An embarrassment for a world class city with the most titles in four different sports. Really hopes this changes in the future.
I am a Boston tour guide and I will NOT be recommending this museum except to the craziest of sports nuts.
But wait... the museum saw my review and invited us back to make things right. With a private tour and a very knowledgeable guide, the second time around made all the difference. I am now upgrading from one to four stars.
Had Richard this time and he took us to places we had not been before and definitely told us stories we had not heard on the first tour. Would have given 5 stars, but we still were not able to touch the sacred floor (NBA regulations, and the Chicago Bulls came in to practice for an upcoming game). Highly recommend calling ahead on the day you plan to come even if you have previous reservations, as the TD Garden is a working vessel and things are...
Read moreMe and my family came to Boston this week on vacation and are huge sports fans. We booked a visit to the Sports Museum and Heritage Hall, costing us about $250 altogether, for this morning at 11 am. A large section of the highway was closed so our Uber got us there and we arrived at 11:03 am. The tour left without us and the man at the counter told me I could join the 12 pm tour. I went at 11:45 to ensure my tickets went through and that we could join the 12 pm tour. I was placed in a line behind people buying tickets for the 12 pm tour, who then took the spots we would have filled. The tour was full so they turned us away and refused to give me a refund. Me, my elderly mother, and my pregnant sister all stood around waiting for the 12 o clock tour only to be denied and never given our money back. I was so sad, especially because many Bostonians have been very kind to us thus far but these workers were not nearly as friendly. What a shame, I know I can’t get my money back but I would have loved to even have a portion...

Remember tip your tour guides - grab cash before the tour as gratuity is always appreciated!
The Sports Museum in Boston offers 2 unique tours - a museum tour (for the die hard) and the arena tour. Visitors can see blend famed artifacts from across basketball, hockey, baseball, football, and college icons. The tour guides’ knowledge is superb and their insider info make it more than worthwhile. Our guides answered so many questions, really personalizing the experience for a wide audience.
The arena tour was a perfect stop on a hot day in Boston and my favorite areas were the Armand M. LaMontagne. I also got to sit in the actual penalty box where Terry O’Reilly spent all those precious minutes. And our guide confirmed that the lost monkey/monkey skeleton urban legend is true.
