Being a Hotel in the Upper Midwest where weather is an unfortunate but normal obstacle, you would imagine the Element Bozeman and Management staff would be more understanding. We booked our reservation for 2 nights (Friday/Saturday) for a work event my wife planned on attending on Saturday in Bozeman.
We were traveling from Fargo, ND on Friday, roughly an 11 hour drive, but were only able to make it an hour on interstate before the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) shut down the interstate due to weather, stranding us in another town. After holding out hope for a few hours that we would be able to begin traveling again when the interstate opened, we accepted we'd be stuck for the night and reached out to Element Bozeman to let them know that we would not be making it that night due to weather but hoped to keep the following night's reservation. We were informed that due to the 24 hours cancellation policy, we would still be charged for Friday night, and when we asked about the weather issues being the cause, we were told we could speak with management about a refund when arriving Saturday.
Jump ahead to midway through Saturday and NDDOT had not opened interstate yet, so we knew we'd be unable to attend my wife's event. We reached out to Element Bozeman to let them know we would need to cancel the reservation completely due to the weather and shut down interstate. We were initially told we'd be charged for Saturday night also, but after speaking to a Manager, they changed their stance to they would refund Saturday but not Friday since we'd already been charged for it.
Having a company policy is understandable, but it's sad that a company would choose to punish a customer for travel restrictions out of their control.
Update: This issue has since been corrected by Guest Service Manager, Thomas, with a refund of Friday night. Appreciate the additional follow up to make...
Read moreWe checked in after 9 pm. We saw that the room we booked, the sofabed for our son would be touching the end of our bed when made. We asked if there was an upgrade available since we’re supposed to get at checkin if available. We were given a second room. My son and I went to the “heated” pool. It was freezing. It was a very fast swim for him due to the cold pool. We were the only people there. When we came back my son showered then opened the sofa bed. The mattress was filthy and covered in crumbs. We asked for it to be cleaned. The checkin lady asked us to move to a third room. It’s now around 10 pm. We get everything moved when I’m dead tired from our 7 plus hour drive today and move the pillow and the sheets are covered in short hair. I look at my husband’s side same thing. We had been on the fifth floor moved to the third floor two rooms and now the checking lady is move to the fourth floor! Absolutely ridiculous! We go and inspect 417 which is now a one room suite upgrade. The room sofa bed and primary bed are clean! Now it’s after 11 pm. The checkin in lady said management will speak to you tomorrow. Yeah no one spoke to us. Wasted two hours of our vacation, because their rooms are filthy. We were choosing between the residence inn and the element at 830pm and chose here because it said heated pool. Well it was not and two hours of a not clean, disgusting beds. We ran into other people in the hallway that their keys were not coded correctly, etc. |We stayed at the Kimpton Armory last time we were in town and the road noise was loud. Here we only heard it occasionally. The bed was comfortable. They have bikes with helmets that you can use that was a nice treat to discovery a different part of town. Breakfast was only til 9:30 which was...
Read moreWhat a great place to stay!!! Went to a destination wedding (at the Rialto) over President's Day Weekend and had the pleasure of staying at the Element for 6 nights. I spoke with Jill in sales months prior who helped me with my reservation and elaborated on all the amenities. They provided shuttle service from the airport and we were greeted by Tucker who gave us some good info on the way to the hotel. We especially liked the happy hour M-TH from 5-6:30 with complimentary beer, wine and light snacks. Jade was very generous with the drinks and made us all feel welcome. There were about 15 of us staying there and we really enjoyed sitting by the fireside in the spacious lobby area. We also enjoyed a nice meal at the Squire Restaurant and bar (in the hotel) where Mike the manager was very helpful. The complimentary breakfast was a quick and easy way to get out and about and coffee was always available in the lobby. Front staff like Lauren, Maxwell, Ben and others were always friendly and pleasant. Having a room with a big screen TV that swiveled from the sitting area to the sleeping area was nice - AND - a full kitchen with full sized refrigerator, dish washer, kitchen sink, dishes, flatware and microwave was a plus - especially for reheating leftovers from all the great restaurants in town. This was a standard room with two queen beds - not a suite. We were only a block from Main Street and were comfortable walking through the town. Jill recommended the Yellowstone Safari Company's Winter Safari and we had a once in a lifetime experience seeing wildlife in Yellowstone on a 9 hour tour! Needless to say if I come back in the summer time I'll stay...
