As a family, we are wrangled into eating out more than we'd like. But every once in a while we fall into a place that is worth the drive and time away from home. This quaint resteraunt has managed to make breakfast cuisine a fine art in a humble and very welcoming atmosphere. Their portions are huge, price is exceptionally reasonable, and food is to die for. I ordered the BBB (bison, bacon, biscuit).... Not because I'm a mother and have given up on myself (Although it was worth it) but because I have mastered the biscuits and gravy game and feel the need to measure everyone up against my own. The gravy was from scratch, impeccible consistency enhanced my the very fresh bison sausage and glorious bacon. A sharp cheddar topping smothered atop a home made biscuit.... Throw the skinny jeans away ladies, they aren't worth it. The husband, equally as guilty, ordered the Yellowstone scramble and may have stepped out on our marriage one foot away from me. I can't blame him, it was a masterpiece. Our tiny human indulged in a basic breakfast that was too much for any normal kid, but ideal for an empty stomach doomed to spend the next 10 hours in a truck. I let him order a cinnamon roll off of the kids menu, 3$seemed worth the venture. Once again, the greatest most decadant treat we have had on the road to date. The "water fall of butter" fresh salted sweet cream made every bite a conclusion to a beautiful eating experience. And all of this, only made better by the collaborative staff who never let a coffee cup get below half, and kept smiling as though they actually appreciated the opportunity to be employed (rare for the millennial generation) thanks y'all. We'll...
Read moreMy dad and I visited about three weks ago on our cross country trip from MA. We were very weary travelers! The atmosphere was comfortable and the food smelled amazing! It was hard to decide what to order! In the end we both got an order that included their bison sausage, which just might be the best sausage I have ever had! The staff was super friendly and went above and beyond for us. At one point my dad asked one of the employees if their partner coffee shop "Cool Beans" sold mugs with the logo on it. My mother (who passed several years ago) used that expression for as long as I can remember. The employee told my dad that they didn't have anything but the take out cups with the logo on it and my dad wound up telling him the story. About five minutes later, he was back at the table,. setting down a mug with the "Cool beans" logo on it. He had taken a sticker and put it on the side of a mug for my dad. When he got back to MA he put one of my mother's house plants in it. We were both very touched by the gesture. It made what would have been an already awesome experience even more amazing. Many thank you's to the staff for making us feel so welcome! On top of all of the wonderful service, the food was outstanding. Great hearty breakfast! HIGHLY reccomend if you find...
Read moreVERY rude server. Brought water and said nothing when I said good morning. Though he might be a runner/busser. Nope, he was our server. I learned that when he walked back up to our table after we'd been sitting there a long time. He simply approached and said, "you ready?" All three of us have been servers, so our jaws dropped. We're the most forgiving when a server is in the weeds, but we also know how easy it is not to be a jerk (I cleaned up my language on that).
Oh, and the food was mediocre. The "ranchero sauce" on the breakfast burrito was not a ranchero sauce. It was ice-cold jarred salsa. And they topped the whole thing with cold shredded cheese, also off the Sysco truck. The only thing hot on the plate were the mushy, unseasoned potatoes. The side of avocado two of us ordered was a gross half an avocado, a couple of days past its prime. Huge dark areas and inedible over more than half of it. Of course Mr. Charming was nowhere to be seen, so we ate what we could, which wasn't much. We won't be back, and I'm sure they won't miss us. We felt like they gave no f's that we were there or whether we might be...
