We stayed here for one night recently and, overall, we’re not impressed. We stayed in a “pet friendly” room in which you are not allowed to leave your pet unattended nor are they allowed on the bed. Luckily, we brought a dog bed with us so our pup was able to have something to sleep on (the floors in the room are hardwood) or she would’ve had to sleep on the floor on the towel they left for her…? I’m not sure how this equates to pet friendly. We have traveled all over the country with our dog and have never been told such strict rules for her to stay. Our daughter goes to MSU and luckily has a car so she was able to pick us up for dinner, dog included, since we HAD to valet the car.
Beyond the frustration of the non- pet friendly “pet friendly room” was the lack of amenities. No fridge or microwave in the room, I understand that they are “conserving energy” but it is honestly super inconvenient to not have a fridge or microwave when you’re a traveling family trying to eat on a budget. There was nowhere to sit within the room other than on the bed or the wobbly desk chair. The parking situation is absolutely absurd as well, you’re pretty much forced to valet park your car ($25) even though they do have a large parking lot in front of the hotel that could be utilized for guests.
In the evening of the night of our stay I wanted to make tea, I noticed the little QR code on the mirror that I scanned which offered up a long list of things essential items you can get from the front desk (microwave included apparently). I was excited to see the electric water kettle on the list so I text (yes, you have to text or call from the own phone as there is no actual phone in the room) the front desk and asked if I could use it for my tea. The person responded that they just got in for their shift and would have to find the kettle and that some of the kettles are old and may not work with the outlet in the room, and that he was the only one at the desk so it would be a minute if I still wanted it.
It was very weird when they boast about such great customer service. Ultimately, I had to leave my room and take my kids, AND DOG, to go get hot water from the lobby later in the evening. It was very very inconvenient.
For near $400 for one single night, this hotel just isn’t it. It was clean, I...
Read moreHere to write a review that hopefully clears up some confusion with very mixed reviews for this hotel. My first night here was spent in room 41 on the motel side, upstairs facing the street. The building construction on that side seems to me a lot older and has very very thin walls, you can hear literally everything, especially all the trucks and motorcycles going by at night, and even people talking outside downstairs. If you are in any way a light sleeper, you will not get sleep at all on the motel side facing Main Street. I didn't sleep at all last night. The room was cute overall though and the bed was very comfy. But don't count on sleeping. I brought it up to the staff today and they were very very pleasant and helpful and let me check out one of the rooms in the newer seeming building on the west side of the parking lot that is built more like a hotel instead of a motel. The room I checked and switched to was 107, farthest from Main Street on the bottom floor. It's much much quieter! No street noise, so far I don't hear any neighbors, but the room is definitely not as cozy. It has very scuffed wood floors and no rugs or furniture so it's a bit empty and sterile feeling (the floor also had dirt collected on it) but the bed is the same comfy one as in the other room. The general style of this hotel is definitely trendy, but overall lacks in a feeling of quality and overall comfort for the price of the room. I will say though that the bathrooms are all pretty nice aside from not having standard doors. The no parking on site thing is definitely a pain, and the lack of basic amenities is noticed, but there is a nice coffee shop and work space in the lobby of the western building. It sort of feels like an elevated college dorm. The location is smack dab in the middle of town so most things are walkable and the staff are really great. Is it worth the price? I'd personally say not really, for this price all the rooms should afford quiet sleep, comfortable furniture, a place to put your clothes and quality decor, but the rooms are pretty bare bones and offer trendy design instead of general hotel room standards. I'd say the bathrooms, beds and staff are the best parts, and worst parts are the inconsistent major noise issues and stark lack of furniture or carpet...
Read moreAbsolutely spectacular. I attended a conference in Butte in May and opted to fly in/stay in Bozeman. The Lark came highly recommended, and did not dissapoint. I stayed in the Main Street King room (room 40), and I knew what I was getting into. You should know- this is right on main street, you will hear street noise. However, what I didn't expect was the lengths that this staff goes to in order to make guests feel comfortable.
Let's start before I even left. I booked directly with the hotel, and so they had my cell number. 24 hours prior to departure they asked if I needed anything via text. I sent a message back inquiring about early check-in and they would try to accomodate.
Upon arrival around noon, I approached the Lobby. Whomever the nice staff on duty (there were 3 of them in the lobby) on May 19th deserve bonuses. Not only did they go out of their way to immediately check and make sure the room was ready early and inspected, but they knew exactly how to make proper small talk while a customer waits (the woman at check in had family born in Pennsylvania, if that helps getting her a bonus!) They were able to get me in early.
The custom touches didn't stop there. Earplugs, a white noise machine, your own momento field guide, housekeeping notes and butterscotches made this experience great. I spent the evening on May 20th watching a busy Main Street from the small balcony- you don't need TV even their fast, complimentary wifi when you stay at The Lark.
You should know-
Valet parking, the garage about 4 blocks away is $5 per 12 hours if you're willing to walk. Otherwise I watched the valet run back and forth quickly to help cars.
If you're hungry for a late night bite, the surrounding areas close somewhat earlier than I was used to. You may need to drive
The room I was in had a small mini fridge. If you want your own Coke Zero or Sprite Zero (I had trouble finding this for some reason in Bozeman) there is a Wal Mart on 7 avenue.
Room 40 (Main Street King) has the ability to be an adjourning room with the one right next to it, I'd contact the facility if bringing more than 2 people and desiring the same experience I have.
Overall, great stay, well done, you made my first Montana...
