I’ve lived in Bozeman for 10 years and I’m all about supporting our local, small businesses. That’s why I initially chose Alara when my custom made engagement ring needed a cleaning and a second appraisal for insurance purposes. However choosing Alara to handle my ring has been without question one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. I am recently engaged and have only had my ring since June of this year. My fiancé truly went above and beyond and custom designed my ring with a highly respected, luxury jeweler in New York City’s diamond district. Long story short, after I entrusted Alara with my ring they not only way under appraised its value, but then proceeded to break it in their cleaning machine! Miraculously, my dislodged diamonds somehow didn’t go down their cleaning drain and they were able locate it. A major relief! While no newly engaged couple wants to hear that their ring has been broken, I truly understand that unexpected things can, and do, happen. But it was how Alara handled this situation that compelled me to wrote this review. To communicate what had happened, they just texted me. They broke my one of a kind ring and didn’t even give me the courteous of a personal phone call. Not to mention that the text wasn’t even from the owner, Babs, whom I had initially met with and personally gave my ring to. Then in this text not once did Alara apologize. Instead they questioned who had made the ring and blamed it on the designer’s construct. And it just gets better! The ended the text by telling me what I was going to be charged to get it fixed! I found all of this alarmingly hurtful, and very unlike the caring community business that they pride themselves on being. I trusted Alara, and not only did they not have the courteous to call me and apologize for breaking my ring, they wanted me to pay for their mistake. Needless to say, I’m going to stick with my trusted, and professional, jeweler in New York City....
Read moreIf I could give Alara more than the amount of stars possible I would! They took a family heirloom ring of mine and brought it back to its original glory. Chantell was AMAZING and so easy to work with on the front end of things, and Matt worked his magic on the ring itself. The emerald in the center mount was years old and had been knocked around a little. Matt being the magician he is, worked his magic to not only redo the prongs and clean the stone, but to also resize the ring without losing the original shape! A feat that I was worried wasn’t possible! I cannot stress how much this ring means to me and I’m so glad I trusted Alara to do the work! I have had some terrible work done at other stores, but I can promise Alara will be the only jewelry store I entrust my fine jewelry with from now on! Thank you so much to Matt and Chantell for your expertise and professionalism. I cannot express my gratitude enough and I would highly recommend these two and Alara jewelry to anyone looking for quality work in...
