We stayed here last year at the end of the season to give it a try. It has a great location directly across from our favorite beach. Our stay was "okay", so we booked for several days this July (2024). We were extremely disappointed. |First, we were told on the phone when I made the reservation that we could not check in until 4pm and that they were very strict with the times. which was very inconvenient. We waited until 4pm and then checked in. The next day we noticed a LOT of people arriving, some prior to noon, and checking in. I asked in the office why we couldn't check in until 4pm. They said "oh you could have". So why were we told diffent? They didn't know why we were told that. |Enter the room. The room smelled clean, heavy on the bleach but we felt assured the room had been cleaned. Yeah, not so much.|The worst discovery was after we were walking around the room the next day in our bare feet. On initial glance the rug appeared "newer". But it was filthy dirty. Our feet were black from the ground in dirt in the carpet. In the light of day you could clearly see the path of grime from the door through the room. We bought a pair of flip flops to wear in there.|I spoke to the person in the office and mentioned the carpet. They weren't very concerned with my complaint. She said the carpet was cleaned at the beginning of the season. I told them I wanted to speak with the owner or manager. I was told they would call me. That never happened.|I would not recommend the "Jetty Motel" for multiple reasons. Conflicting check in instructions, dirty carpet, kitchenette barely stocked with dishes and flatware, sheets so worn you can see through them and they didn't fit the mattress very well. Oh, built up nasty grime in the bathroom. Photos attached don't fully show the condition of this room.|The only thing this place has going for it is location and they charge way too much for that. |We travel a lot and I do a lot of reviews. Some things can be tolerated but this was beyond acceptable.|We've been going to Cape May several times a year for many years and have stayed at multiple places. Never seen...
Read moreWe stayed at the Jetty Motel in mid-april. It was a very pleasant experience. The office staff were friendly and accommodating. We booked through Expedia and when we got there they put us in an ocean-view room on the second floor.
The room was basic but clean (80's decor and old rug, but everything was clean and that's part of the charm of a beach motel). The television was a small flat screen, but i did notice CRT tube televisions in other rooms. Our room had a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and tub for ice, and the cabinets/drawers were stocked with silverware, basic kitchen utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, water glasses, coffee filters, cutting board, dish washing liquid, and drying rack. The bathroom had fresh towels and soap, replenished daily by room service (you have to leave the curtains open to signal room service). Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Shower/bath water pressure was fine, and water temp was easily controllable. The room had an old heater which was useful at night in April when the temperatures outside dropped (it didn't have great temperature control, but it served its purpose). Our room had a king size bed and one bedside table with lamp. The mattress was hard, but we didn't mind. Parking was easy with a spot dedicated to each room.
The best part of the Jetty Motel is it's location. It is directly across the street from the beach, and it abuts Nature Conservancy and State Park land, so you have a large stretch of protected beach right outside of your door - great for birding, nature-viewing, and peaceful walks. Also walkable to the lighthouse and nature trails. It's also a great spot for watching the sunset behind the lighthouse. Overall, this was a good choice for an affordable,...
Read moreWent to Cape May for a quickie vacation two nights, three days. Read all reviews for this hotel and thought it sounded pretty good. Called to book room and was told I would have ocean view. Well, I had an ocean view alright, only if you looked out the kitchenette window. Deck faced the nasty old pool and could barely see any ocean. Now let’s get to the real nasty stuff… #1 room smelled like mothballs and musty. #2 The bed sheets were stained and blanket had holes. I always check for bugs before bringing anything in room, so as I was checking I noticed that the plastic box spring cover was slid down into the middle of bed. If the bed was made fresh, you would think the maid would have saw this and straighten it. Thank goodness I brought my own blankets. Room was old and dated which I don’t have a problem with and thought okay let’s make the best of this. Husband and I went to beach for the day. When we returned we found the whole kitchenette full of ants. Went down to office to let them know. They came up to room, sprayed bug spray and gave an ant trap. ( we should have been moved to another room) We left room for evening and upon return the ants were all over dresser. Thank goodness I never took anything out of suitcase. #3 Toilet only half worked. Had to get them to bring a plunger up. #4 Decking was very soft in spots. I’m not sure what most of these great reviews about it being very clean and great hotel are about, because it was none of that. There was a tip envelope laying there. My hubby said , I have a tip for them, “BURN IT DOWN!” I wouldn’t let my dog stay there. Our quick vaca turned into a total nightmare. What a...
