Please don’t rely on the higher ratings as we did. It’s a solid 2-3 Star place. I want to be fair and it’s not a terrible place but not a 4 or more for sure and not for the money. For starters the staff is friendly, no issues there. Parking is good and you’re only a half block from the beach. If you have more than two people, good luck, 2 double beds. Plus the ceilings are low. Luckily there is a ceiling fan but you WILL hit your arms / hands trying to dress. Not much room for 4 people. Place is very small and cheap laminate flooring with no rugs or carpets. Your feet will be black from dirt in short order. There’s no welcome mat or anything to catch sand. The main issue is a very cheap poor remodel. Shower fixtures and knobs are barley attached and not very functional. No venting in bathroom unless you open the window, there goes your a/c. When you come back from the beach, the outside showers are weak at best, not powerful enough to rinse well and not low enough to hit your legs or feet. No laundry either. The fridge is dorm size, barely big enough for left overs. WiFi is ok at best. If you plan to relax a bit after the beach, not so much comfort. If you need minimal and just a quick shower and bed it’s fine, but very pricey for that. Bottom line, I’ve paid much...
Read moreMy family and I have been visiting Cape May for many years and never have we experienced the highest level of disrespect until we got to The Southwinds hotel. The manager, Gwen tried to accuse me of having 11 guests when I booked our two bedroom suite for 5 people. Soon as we checked in my family and I put on our bathing suits and headed for the beach. Some friends of ours joined us at the beach. After a few hours at the beach we returned to our room with our friends. Upon returning to our room the manager yelled out from the parking lot accusing us of having more than five people staying. There aren’t any policies stating guest can’t have visitors. Gwen was making false assumptions and said she was going to charge us $80. When I checked my statement the next day I saw that she had charged me $210. Totaling over $600 for a one night stay. I called the management office to rectify our bill and they said that there were 13 people on record which was completely false. When we called the management office they said we had 13 people. If they were watching my family and I, they would’ve seen our visitors leave. I was embarrassed by her actions and insulted by her attempt to rob me. Gwen is a thief and a liar. My family and I will NEVER stay...
