My family and my sister's family stayed here for a week in late June. It's not "fancy", but it's clean, well staffed, and in the perfect location on Beach Ave.
Entrance and exit to the parking lot allows you direct access to S. Broadway. This is a great benefit especially during peak season as it allows you to completely bypass the traffic going through the center of town and you can bypass the main bridge in/out. There was construction going on in the center of town, and we also managed to bypass that.
-It's still close enough to walk to town center, but far enough away that it's quiet at night.
-Bedrooms were very spacious, living room/kitchens likewise, and the bathrooms were roomy as well.
Bedrooms are far back enough from the living room that if people wanted to have a moment of quiet it was very do-able. If anything, they were larger than they had to be. Beds had firm mattresses, so bringing a mattress topper if firm mattresses hurt your back is suggested.
It wasn't fancy, but I really liked some of the touches in the bathroom. The toilet wasn't wedged against a wall. The shower had correctly installed safety bar into the wall, rather than some flimsy thing; more hotels should have this. The back wall of the bathroom was a giant cubby/shelf unit. So much space and ease of access to lay out all your toiletries, change of clothes, etc.
Kitchen was small, with "enough" equipment to make a meal. Full fridge and decent cooktop. Plenty of cabinet space. Bring your travel mugs inside because the cups were very small, but otherwise decent enough.
Living room was large; almost too large. Plenty of seating, TV was okay, table. Lot of wasted space in center of room, but too much space is better than the opposite.
Pool isn't too large, but has plenty of seating and was clean.
Always saw lots of staff working. At one point I had a small fall and instantly there were staff there to see if everything was okay. Excellent reaction time. Common areas were spotless the whole time we were there. We don't like cleaning service during a stay, but there was always a wrapped bundle of towels by our door every AM.
I didn't look for them, so I can't say for sure what services were on site. Pretty sure they had a laundry. Didn't see any sort of food/drink machine if the kid needs a midnight snack. There was a cooler of bottled water for a small fee near the pool. Elevator was large enough for any use.
I didn't see where handicapped parking was; I am assuming in front of the building? The elevator access from the back parking lot is three steps up, so if you parked in the back you'd have to roll around the whole building. Spaces in general were juuuust large enough, and straight-in parking. It wasn't hard to park, but hopefully the people in the next stall are careful when they open their doors. Very easy to pull in/out of the lot and excellent location for bypassing traffic as mentioned.
The only other thing worth mentioning is that they have a 3-person per from policy. I'm not sure what you would do if you had two kids with you. There was an extra charge to have a 3rd person in the room.
Would we stay here again? I would say yes; they were closed in the winter and I'd rather stay a bit closer to town center in the non-summer months, but they are a bit cheaper than many other options and with the full kitchen, it's a good choice for folks looking to save money cooking a lot of their own meals and it's not far from walking the places you want to walk in the area. Not being able to have four in a room seems to be a stumbling block if you have more than 3 folks in your party, but I guess it has the unintended benefit of making fewer large families' kids running up and down the halls and splashing...
Read moreI made a reservation for 2 nights.I knew I was coming in at about 9 to check in, so being nice i called the hotel and made sure it was ok and let them know my ETA. When arriving, there was a woman at the front desk and a man who gave myself and my husband a dirty look as soon as we walked in, and didn’t say a word to us. My husband felt the tension and had to be the one to say hey how is your night going as we stood there to check in. Meanwhile the receptionist was nice and friendly. Then the man left with his dirty bowl of food he just ate and started to wash it in the room next door.. my husband and I joked about how nasty he was to us and brushed it off as oh he must be tired and want to go to bed. When checking in I received ZERO paperwork and the only thing I signed was a card with my name, address, and type of car I had. I was asked to pay in cash and if I did the room was going to be a lot cheaper. Which I ended up doing. I was never asked for my driver’s license or any type of ID. NO one went over any hotel policies with me and like I said I literally gave them cash and received 2 keys, a tag for my car, and a map of the area. The room was pretty large and had an extra bed so on night 2 we invited our friends to come stay. 1 of which is 6 months pregnant. I went to the hotel front desk and TOLD THEM I HAVE 2 friends coming and if they can park in the lot. I was told “ we are fully booked otherwise they could park here” and was told they can park on the side streets as the meters were off. So our friends came stayed the night we did use the hot tub which was very dirty with all types of hairs in it and was lukewarm. We left the room spotless and checked out an hour early. I get a phone call an hour after checking out stating I was going to be charged an extra $120 + for our friends coming. The man who we first saw in the beginning called and tried to tell me they stayed 2 nights, which was untrue and tried to argue saying the maid said she had to make 2 beds … what if we sleep in separate beds? That is not something I should have to explain, and he wanted me to prove to him it was only me and my husband the first night? After explaining I came to the hotel front desk the 2nd morning letting them know I was not told any of this information and received no paperwork on their policies. I was told its on their website and I should just know ? Then after being talked to incredibly rude his story changed to its because we were “drunk and disorderly” which we were most certainly not..we were up and out before check out..Whoever that man is discriminated myself and husband as soon as we go to the hotel. They are a shady business asking customer to pay in only cash , not ask for IDs and not give any paperwork on checking in or checking out of the hotel. Even if I was not charged , which I eventually was I would still be writing this because the man who is the owner/manager was completely out of line on how he treated his...
Read moreI have stayed here once before in the winter and had no issues. We decided to return April 17th week to find that the indoor pool and hot tub was being renovated !! I wish they had told me before we drove 3.5 hours to get there but we had also taken that time off from work. It was a little too chilly for me to be in the ocean or the outdoor pool so I was really bummed out. Next, we discovered that 3 toddlers were in the room beside us. I didn't realize they had adult supervision until I saw the woman taking them out to the beach because they made noise the entire time. There's no-way I wouId let my children make that much noise and disturb other guests. I had enough so on Tuesday I went to the office to report it, in hopes of being given another room near adults. Afterall, this was a vacation right?. The front office staff couldn't care less, they had gotten my money and that's all that mattered. Us having a nice, peaceful stay was not a priority. They reminded me that this was a family resort and there's nothing they can do. I didn't expect them to put tape on the children's mouths- just move us to a different room. Apparently that was too much to ask for. Finally, he killed a roach coming across the carpet and at that point, I wanted to leave but we only had 1 more day there so i didn't return to the office because i figured they wouldn't care. The nicest thing about this trip was the oceanfront view- watching the sunrise and set but I can honestly say, this place will not be on my list when I do...
