Not to be a Karen, but left feeling a little disappointed. We came here at 2:30 and the waitress gave us both lunch menus + regular ones, and our order was put in at 2:40. Food was great, it’s the same owner as Monterrey Mexican Grill in Chapel Hill which I’ve eaten at before and loved.
I get the bill and my brother’s $18 burrito, my mar y tierra tacos which were supposed to be $12.75 under the lunch special, and our $5 queso came out to $45 before tip—it didn’t add up. I asked our waitress about it and she was like I’m so sorry the lunch special ends at 2pm. The menu/website says it runs 11am-3pm, so I told her (I felt kind of embarrassed at this point because it was just $10), and she told me her manager said it ended at 2pm.
She explained they gave me the regular menu portion of 3 tacos instead of 2 which they do for the lunch special, but she could go get her manager if I wanted a refund. Since I got the portion I was paying for, I felt bad and didn’t want to make it a huge deal and go through the trouble of them having to refund stuff. I tipped 20% and we left.
I had no problem paying, I actually think the prices of the food were reasonable—we even took my tacos as leftovers. But they should really fix their menus. Everything said lunch special ends at 3pm, so either the menu is outdated or the manager/staff is misinformed. Also, why were we given lunch menus at 2:30 if the lunch special is “over” at 2pm. Just doesn’t make sense. I enjoyed the meal and our waitress was great, but this could’ve been avoided if they only gave us normal menus to begin with.
Maybe this is a lot of fuss over $10. But as a freshly graduated college student without a job right now, especially in this economy, every dollar counts. Imagine a big family who was on a budget came in and the same thing happened to them. Just wanted to respectfully provide as much clarity on the situation as possible so they can hopefully address this for...

Read moreThis is my first review of a restaurant, so you know this place made an impression on me. Some friends invited us to try a new Mexican restaurant (Aqui Mero!) with them. The place had recently opened in the old O'Charley's building next to Western Wake Hospital in Cary. Honestly, I was a little reluctant. I like Mexican food, but it's usually not my first choice, I had grown comfortable our "old reliable" Mexican restaurant choices -- and I am not a fan of change. And honestly, the last two "new" Mexican restaurants we tried left me saying, "Not as good as Los Tres."
After enjoying pretty standard complimentary "chips & salsa, I ordered the steak fajitas (for one, $17 -- but it comes in a "for two" size portion also). Rather than the standard side of beans and/or rice, they offered several other options, including street corn (no up charge). It was a full ear of corn and was The.Best.Street.Corn.Ever. The food arrived quickly and was sizzling hot and fresh. The service was prompt and attentive.
At the end of the meal, I told my wife and dining partners, this was the best fajitas I have ever had -- by a long shot. This is quite possibly the only Mexican restaurant in the area that I will ever eat at again. It...
