I am disabled, mobility-wise. When my husband and I go anywhere, we request an accessible/ADA room because I need, at the very least, grab bars and minimal walking - close to the elevator or door.

We planned a weekend trip and called several places. Each time, we explained in detail what my needs were and made sure the person understood. We decided on this hotel and the representative assured us we were getting an accessible room.

We checked in, and once we got the key, realized we were on the 3rd floor. When we got off the elevator, we found out the room was almost to the other end of the hall (pic). Then we found out that the bed was nearly too tall for me to get in it. Then we found that there were no grab bars whatsoever in the room or bathroom (pic).

This was not an accessible room, even though my receipt states it was a "Non-view Partially Handicap w/1 king" room. Not sure what "Partially Handicap" means because we saw nothing in that room to make it so. No wheelchair could have been used in it.

My husband went back down to the front desk to straighten out the issue. He was was told there were no accessible rooms available. He asked for a break on the rate since we booked for something we didn't get. He was told no, that they had already given us a break on the rate (?). And oops, I guess the staff doesn't know which rooms are accessible and which are not.

So he requested a refund. When he got back to the room I reminded him that since it was already after 4 pm we would have to stay because I didn't have the energy or patience to go elsewhere after a long drive. So he rebooked the room.

Without grab bars, I needed his assistance in the bathroom. I needed help getting into the tall bed. I was exhausted by the walk from the elevator to the room, which might not be a big deal for able folks, but was for me.

All in all, this was a totally preventable situation. Had the staff been knowledgeable and honest about these unacceptable, non-accessible accommodations, we could have made a better informed decision.

I expected better, because I have stayed at other BWs in many other locations and have been treated well.

I gave it two stars because room was clean and the breakfast next door was fine, but they failed...

Where do we begin? We were charged 300+ for the room each night. There is a train that runs literally every 15-20 minutes right under the window so if you like getting woke up from passing trains then this is for you. You can see the tracks in other review pics boasting about the view. YES, it is a great view. The bugs that infested the room and collected in front of the TV is also inspiring. I can't believe that in the most recent 10-20 reviews NOBODY mentions the trains? at all? It shakes the room! There are bugs in the room and the one we had smelled like somebody smoked in it. it is a basic room, very basic room like from a remodeled motel 6 or super 8. There is nothing special about this place aside from being in the middle of town and the view. The pool was closed off with caution tape and not available but full price is still expected. The breakfast that is included is actually the next door restaurant and you get a coupon for a single item and they are very clear on that. Want eggs...that's it!...oh you want oatmeal and eggs? 8 bucks! on top of all of this the beds are like sleeping on cardboard-they need to call the mypillow guy - seriously. our vehicle got broken into and the thief drilled a hole in our gas tanks to syphon it out. So we were stuck. No help, you are on your own, no cameras and the thief's know it, the sheriff, the tow truck driver AND mechanic when told our story they said it is very common and especially at that hotel. It happens all the time they all said at this hotel.

Good luck! never again!

updated - we spoke with the manager and found out the wedding party actually paid more than we did. this is not a $300 a night hotel. ZERO security no onsite services but an agreement with the restaurant next door that is very limited.

I dont have great expectations. The road trip we took up the coast we stayed at rooms with these rules. we must be able to park in front of the room, no big fancy hotels...only MOTELS. and we enjoyed all those up and down the west coast. we will drive right by this one if we ever need to get the...

This place was great! Take it from me: someone who has stayed in 2 different Air BnBs and 8 different hotels in the last month alone. Clean, nice staff, quality amenities, and beautiful location. Only thing I would have likes to see different is the parking: I ended up opting to park on the street in front of the hotel vs the dark end of the lot.

The free breakfast tops any other I've had anywhere and I've been all over the East and West Coast. You're given a voucher for the restaurant next door, which also overlooks the river with better views and excellent, unbelievable sized portions. We loved watching the trains pass in the distance and the river rush by under the bridge.

Everything about the room itself was comfortable except the pillows: they were sort of small in size and overstuffed, but they made for great bumpers to keep the littles from rolling off during the night, because this place, just like every single other hotel in existence, markets queen sizes beds, but falls 5-6 inches short of that width-wise.

Staying there for us was 100% based on visiting Multnomah Falls and that didn't happen, because the entrance to the parking lot was closed coming from the direction of the hotel. There was a line so long coming from the other direction that we just couldn't bring ourselves to exit to turn around and get in it, because we've already been to see Multnomah once before. We instead went south and found Silver Falls: TEN waterfalls! And so much more fun, because it has a park for the kids, a swimming area, volleyball/horseshoe pit, picnic tables gallore, a designated field for dogs to run, and even a walk behind the falls along the caverns to sit on the rocks and watch the back of water wall. Do it! I'm pregnant, we had our 2 and e year olds, and a dog with us and it wasn't too much. I would NOT attempt to bring the kids alone though, even if not pregnant- the trails can get wet, narrow, and steep PlUS the safety railings leave you wanting to have a capable adult holding each...

This was one of the nicest BW’s I’ve ever stayed. The location was great and the front desk staff were very friendly. Rooms: We chose to stay in a room river-facing room. (We got a 4th floor room.) The view is unbeatable. HOWEVER, two things to consider: 1. The railroad tracks are between the hotel and the river. It runs during the day and night. And it is LOUD. The hotel provided soft ear plugs, but they aren’t very helpful. Thankfully, I am a deep sleeper. (I can’t say if street-side rooms can hear the trains.) 2. We went in July, and it happened to be unseasonably warm. There were a lot of those teeny, tiny summer flies(?) in the bathroom and area around the windows. I don’t know if other rooms had them, but our room did. They weren’t bothersome, but I know for some it might be. The room’s AC worked well (was a little noisy), the bed was nice and firm, the chairs and ottoman were comfortable, and the towels were plush. Like I mentioned before, the location is prime. Just a block or so from the Bridge of the Gods and on the main street. There are a few pubs and restaurants within walk-in distance and a small grocery store close by. The Bridgeside Restaurant is conveniently next door and is where you can get your complimentary breakfast. (The front desk will issue a voucher upon check in.) The breakfast options are listed on the restaurant’s menu and are generous. Again, the view is amazing! The hotel has a pool, but it’s indoors and small. The exercise facility is small, too, but we didn’t use it. There are laundry facilities in the hotel, and they are coin operated. We were unable to use them because the front desk didn’t have enough quarters. (The machines are $5 a load.) There was plenty of parking and the grounds were clean and well-maintained. The lobby is small, but comfortable and clean. All the staff we encountered were friendly and incredibly patient with certain patrons… Highly recommend this BW.

We decided to take a 3-day road trip and headed to the Columbia Gorge. We took a chance on the Best Western Plus at Cascade Locks. The hotel sits on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River just East of the Bridge of the God's. The hotel is quite nice, The maintenance of the facilities is great and the rooms have very comfortable beds. We had a King room with balcony and a view of the bridge and a spectacular view of the river. The room included 2 leather overstuffed chairs and an ottoman. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and very helpful! Now for the downside. There are two sets of railroad tracks right behind, about 50 yards, from the hotel. One might think that the trains might not run very often at night, wrong! The trains are long grain or coal trains and take 2 to 4 minutes to pass. The hotel tries to help and provides earplugs. If you could be bothered by the trains try getting a room on the street side of the hotel. At night the street noise would be minimal. A great fun place and people.
